The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing focused on housing affordability, with various witnesses testifying about economic and policy factors affecting housing access and costs. Resolution depends on whether specific terms or phrases are mentioned by witnesses speaking in an official capacity during the live-streamed event.
This event consists of multiple phrase-detection markets tracking witness testimony during the Senate Banking Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing on The Affordability Agenda. Each market resolves Yes if any participating witness speaking in an official capacity uses the exact phrase or word during the live broadcast or stream, including plural or possessive forms. The phrases tracked are: Interest Rate, Tariff, Crypto/Cryptocurrency/Bitcoin, Genius Act, Capital Gains, Recession, First Time Homebuyer, American Dream, Fannie/Freddie, Blockchain, Wall Street, Inventory, Mortgage, Landlord, Zoning/Permit, and Trump (3 or more times). Resolution relies primarily on video of the hearing; official transcripts serve as secondary sources if video consensus cannot be reached. The event must be open to press and televised or streamed live to qualify. Previously recorded content, archival footage, or recordings from separate events do not count. Inaudible private conversations or unofficial statements do not qualify. If the hearing is cancelled or fails to meet qualification criteria, all markets resolve to No and the "Event does not qualify" market resolves to Yes. If postponed with announcement by the following calendar day to a date within 14 days, markets remain open.
Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders who profit or lose based on accuracy, creating strong incentives for honest forecasting. Analyst forecasts, by contrast, often rely on qualitative assessments and may carry institutional or reputational biases. This market aggregates dispersed knowledge from many participants with skin in the game, whereas traditional analyst views represent a smaller set of expert opinions. When comparing this market's odds to published analyst commentary on Senate Banking priorities, you can gauge whether traders are pricing in scenarios that mainstream forecasters have overlooked or underweighted.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through continuous order-book trading, where buyers and sellers submit bids and offers for each potential witness statement outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices move in real time as new information emerges and traders adjust their positions. Each contract trades between 0 and 100 cents, representing the implied probability of that outcome occurring. Liquidity and trading volume directly influence how tight the bid-ask spread remains, so periods of high activity typically offer tighter pricing and faster execution.
This market resolves around Jun 24, 2026, once the Senate Banking hearing on affordability concludes and witness testimony is publicly available. The outcome is determined by verified statements made during the hearing, confirmed against credible public reporting and official records. Traders should monitor the hearing schedule and any last-minute changes to witness lists or testimony topics. Resolution hinges on what is actually said in the hearing room, not on media interpretation or subsequent commentary.
Key catalysts include announcements of the final witness list, pre-hearing statements or op-eds from expected testifiers, and any legislative developments affecting housing affordability or banking regulation. Market sentiment may shift if major economic data on housing costs or mortgage rates is released before the hearing. Media coverage highlighting specific policy proposals or controversies can also influence trader positioning. Additionally, any unexpected cancellations or last-minute substitutions of witnesses could trigger sharp repricing as participants reassess which testimony outcomes are most likely.
