A House Administration Committee hearing will examine modernizing public access to legislative data and information. Witnesses testifying in official capacity will be monitored for specific terminology used during the live-streamed event.
This event consists of multiple word-mention markets tracking whether any participating witness speaking in an official capacity utters specific terms during the Committee on House Administration hearing on modernizing public access to legislative data. Resolution is based on the live broadcast or stream, with video as the primary source and official transcripts as backup if consensus cannot be reached. Each market resolves Yes if the exact phrase or word—including plural or possessive forms—is used by any witness; grammatical and tense inflections do not count as variations. The event must be open to the press and televised or streamed live to qualify. Previously aired content, archival footage, or recordings from separate times or places do not count. Inaudible private conversations or unofficial statements do not qualify. If the event is cancelled or fails to meet qualification criteria, all markets resolve No except "Event does not qualify," which resolves Yes. If postponed with announcement by end of the following calendar day to a date within 14 calendar days, markets remain open. Tracked terms include: Trump, Transparency, Classified, AI/Artificial Intelligence, XML, Bipartisan, Congress/Congressional, Security/Cybersecurity, Social Media, Automated/Automation, and Privacy.
Prediction market odds on this market reflect real-money incentives that often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may rely on historical precedent or institutional expertise, traders here stake capital on specific witness statements, creating a crowdsourced probability estimate. Markets typically incorporate breaking news and late-developing context faster than formal analyst reports, though both approaches offer valuable signals. Comparing the current odds to published expert commentary can reveal where the market consensus differs from establishment expectations.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through continuous order-book trading, where buyers and sellers set the odds by placing limit and market orders. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the aggregate willingness of traders to bet on what the witnesses will say, with tighter spreads indicating higher confidence and wider spreads suggesting uncertainty. As new developments or statements emerge, traders adjust their positions, and the market price updates dynamically to reflect evolving expectations about the hearing's testimony.
This market resolves around Jul 16, 2026, once the hearing concludes and witness statements become part of the public record. The outcome is determined by verifying the actual testimony and statements made during the event against credible public sources, including official hearing transcripts and reputable news coverage. Resolution hinges on whether the specific witness claims or positions match the predetermined outcome criteria established at market creation, ensuring a clear and objective settlement.
Several catalysts could shift odds before the hearing takes place. Advance statements or press releases from witnesses, leaked hearing agendas, or public commentary from participants may signal their likely positions. Media reporting on the legislative data access debate and related policy developments could reshape trader expectations. Additionally, any procedural changes to the hearing format, witness list modifications, or high-profile political developments tied to data transparency could trigger significant repricing as traders reassess the probability of different testimony outcomes.
