ABC World News Tonight with David Muir is a nightly news broadcast where reporters cover major stories. These markets track whether specific words or phrases are mentioned by any reporter speaking in an official capacity during the broadcast.
Resolution is based on the live broadcast or stream of ABC World News Tonight with David Muir, verified primarily through video and supplemented by official transcripts if needed. For each tracked term, resolution to Yes requires that any reporter speaking in an official capacity use the exact phrase or word (or its plural or possessive form) during the broadcast. Grammatical and tense inflections beyond pluralization and possession do not qualify. The Iran market specifically requires three or more mentions. Promotional content aired during the broadcast counts toward resolution, but advertisements do not. Only content included in the original broadcast or stream counts; additional content does not. Reporters must speak in an official capacity for mentions to count—inaudible private conversations or unofficial statements picked up on a hot mic do not qualify. If the broadcast is definitively cancelled or fails to meet resolution criteria, the "Event does not qualify" market resolves to Yes and all other markets resolve to No. If the broadcast is postponed and rescheduled within 14 calendar days with announcement by the end of the following calendar day, markets remain open.
Prediction market odds reflect real-money trader conviction and aggregate dispersed information across thousands of participants, often diverging from traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may rely on historical patterns or selective data, this market prices in live signals, breaking news, and dynamic market sentiment. Traders who spot gaps between analyst views and market odds can exploit mispricings. Over time, prediction markets have demonstrated competitive accuracy against expert opinion, particularly in fast-moving news environments where information updates rapidly.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different reporter mentions outcomes. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share trades between 0 and 100 cents, with the midpoint reflecting the crowd's estimated probability. Traders place limit and market orders, and the spread between bid and ask prices tightens as volume and interest grow. Real-money stakes ensure skin-in-the-game incentives, making prices more responsive to new information than polls or surveys.
This market resolves around Jul 29, 2026, once the ABC World News Tonight broadcast concludes and the reported statements are verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual reporter mentions against the predefined options traders wagered on. Resolution hinges on what is genuinely said on air during the program, confirmed through broadcast records and journalistic documentation. Early resolution is possible if the event is cancelled or postponed.
Major breaking news, political developments, natural disasters, or market-moving economic data released before the broadcast can shift trader expectations about what reporters will emphasize. Scheduled press conferences, earnings announcements, or geopolitical events may also influence coverage priorities. Social media trends and wire-service headlines often preview evening news focus. As the broadcast time approaches, early segments or leaked rundowns can trigger sharp repricing. Traders monitoring news flow and editorial calendars gain an edge in anticipating which topics will dominate reporter commentary.
