Kalshi
An episode of a reality dating show airs, and this market tracks whether contestants use common vocabulary and phrases associated with the show's format during their interactions.
The market resolves based on video of the original broadcast or stream of Love Island USA Season 8 Episode 8; if consensus cannot be reached using video, official transcripts will be used. For a word or phrase to count, the exact phrase or a plural or possessive form must be used; grammatical and tense inflections are otherwise not included. Only the original broadcast or stream counts; additional content not included in the original broadcast does not count. Promotional content aired during the event counts, but advertisements do not. The entirety of content within the original broadcast is used for resolution, including previously aired content (such as episode recaps) and future episode sneak peeks that are broadcast during the live event. If the event is postponed and rescheduled within 14 calendar days with announcement by the end of the following calendar day, markets remain open.
On Kalshi, each potential statement or phrase outcome is priced as a binary contract reflecting the probability traders assign to it occurring during Episode 8. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices range from near zero to near 100, with higher prices indicating greater market confidence. Traders buy shares at the ask price if they believe an outcome is underpriced, or sell at the bid price if they think it is overpriced. The spread between bid and ask tightens as volume increases and more traders participate. Prices update in real time as new trades execute, allowing participants to enter or exit positions continuously until the episode airs and the market resolves.
The market resolves on Jun 12, 2026. Resolution is determined by whether the specific statement or phrase tracked by each outcome actually appears in Love Island Episode 8 as broadcast. The exact wording, context, and speaker are evaluated against the outcome definition to confirm a match. Once the episode airs and is reviewed, the market settles based on whether the cast said the tracked phrase. Traders who held winning shares receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. The resolution process ensures clarity and fairness by applying consistent criteria to all outcomes.
Pre-episode social media activity, contestant interviews, and teaser clips released by the network can shift odds significantly. Relationship drama or unexpected alliances announced before Episode 8 airs may increase the likelihood of certain phrases being said. Betting volume spikes often follow Love Island news cycles or when major plot points are revealed. Trader sentiment can swing based on contestant history and typical speech patterns. Odds may also move if similar phrases were said in previous episodes, signaling recurring dialogue. Real-time updates during the episode itself will finalize pricing as viewers confirm whether predicted statements actually occur.
