This event tracks whether specific words or phrases are spoken by any participating candidate during the live televised or streamed Debate Night in Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate primary debate. Resolution is based on video of the debate, with official transcripts used as backup if consensus cannot be reached from video alone.
These markets resolve based on whether any participating candidate speaks specific words or phrases during the live broadcast or stream of the Debate Night in Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate primary debate. For each market, the exact word or phrase must be used—including plural or possessive forms—though grammatical and tense inflections are otherwise not required. The event must be opened to the press and televised or streamed live to qualify; previously aired content, archival footage, and recordings from separate times or places do not count. Resolution uses video as the primary source, with official transcripts as backup if Kalshi employees cannot reach consensus from video alone. Candidates must speak in an official capacity during the debate; inaudible private conversations or unofficial statements picked up on a hot mic do not qualify. If the debate is cancelled or fails to qualify under these criteria, the "Event does not qualify" market resolves to Yes and all other markets resolve to No. If the debate is postponed and rescheduled within 14 calendar days with announcement by the end of the following calendar day, markets remain open. The Trump market specifically requires the word to be mentioned 8 or more times by any participating candidate.
Prediction market odds reflect real-money trader bets and often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because markets incorporate live information and individual conviction. While political analysts may rely on polling, historical patterns, and expert judgment, this market prices outcomes based on what traders believe candidates will actually say during the debate. Markets can move faster than published forecasts when new campaign developments emerge, making them a complementary signal to conventional political analysis and media expectations.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders directly buy and sell shares representing each possible candidate statement. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Share prices range from $0 to $1, with the current price reflecting the implied probability that a given statement will occur. As new information surfaces or debate expectations shift, traders adjust their positions, and prices update in real time to reflect the collective market view of what will be said.
This market resolves around Jul 22, 2026, once the debate concludes and statements can be verified against credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by whether each candidate statement actually occurs during the event, as confirmed through debate transcripts, video records, and reputable news coverage. Resolution typically follows within hours or days after the debate ends, allowing traders to settle positions based on what was factually said.
Campaign announcements, candidate polling shifts, and recent policy statements can all influence trader expectations about debate talking points. Breaking news or controversies may prompt candidates to address specific topics, moving odds on related statements. Media coverage of campaign priorities and debate previews also shape market pricing. As the debate date approaches, final candidate positioning and last-minute campaign developments typically drive the largest price movements, reflecting updated trader confidence in what will actually be discussed on stage.
