During the Sparks vs Wings women's basketball game scheduled for July 19, 2026, resolution depends on whether official broadcast commentators (play-by-play, color commentator, rules analyst, or sideline reporter) mention specific words or phrases. The national broadcast will be used for resolution, or the home team's local broadcast if not nationally televised.
Resolution is determined by monitoring official broadcast commentary from the Sparks vs Wings game scheduled for July 19, 2026. Official broadcast commentators include play-by-play announcers, color commentators, rules analysts, and sideline reporters. Commentary is counted from tip-off through game conclusion, including any overtime periods and continuing until the final referee decision if the last play is under review. The national broadcast is the primary source; if unavailable, the home team's local broadcast is used. Video evidence is the primary resolution method, with official transcripts used if video consensus cannot be reached. Exact words or their plural and possessive forms must be used; grammatical and tense variations do not count. Commentary from players, coaches, referees, guests, halftime reporters, or non-official broadcast team members does not count. Commercial breaks do not count, but promotional content within the game broadcast does count. If the game is cancelled or fails to occur, the "Event does not qualify" market resolves to Yes and all other markets resolve to No. If postponed and rescheduled within 14 calendar days with announcement by the following calendar day, markets remain open.
Prediction market odds reflect the aggregated beliefs of traders actively wagering real money, which often diverges from traditional analyst commentary or media predictions. While sports analysts may focus on game outcomes or player performance, this market isolates specific announcer statements—a niche area where expert consensus is rarely published. The crowd-sourced pricing mechanism on Kalshi typically incorporates information faster than formal forecasts update, since traders respond immediately to new context. Comparing this market's implied probabilities to any public analyst statements about broadcast language can reveal whether the market is pricing in surprises or consensus expectations.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing each potential announcer statement. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The platform displays bid-ask spreads for every outcome, and prices adjust in real time as new orders flow in. Each contract typically trades between 0 and 100 cents, with the implied probability derived from the current mid-market price. Traders can place limit or market orders to enter or exit positions, and the platform settles contracts based on verified outcomes once the game concludes and statements are confirmed.
This market resolves around Aug 2, 2026, once the Sparks vs Wings game concludes and the broadcast is complete. The outcome is determined by verifying which announcer statements were actually made during the game, confirmed against credible public sources such as official broadcast recordings or reputable sports media coverage. Traders holding contracts on statements that occurred will receive the full payout, while those on statements that did not occur will receive nothing. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final buzzer, allowing quick settlement.
Market prices may shift based on roster changes, injury announcements, or breaking news about either team that could influence broadcast focus and announcer commentary. Pre-game media coverage and analyst predictions often signal which storylines announcers will emphasize. Trading volume typically spikes closer to game time as more casual bettors enter, potentially moving odds toward consensus expectations. Live game developments—such as early leads, bench rotations, or standout performances—can also shift trader sentiment about which statements are likely to be made. Announcer-specific news, such as personnel changes in the broadcast booth, could alter the baseline probability of certain phrases.
