During the Padres vs Dodgers baseball game scheduled for July 5, 2026, play-by-play and color commentators will be monitored for specific phrases and terms they use in their broadcast commentary. The resolution depends on whether announcers speak certain predetermined words or phrases during the game.
Resolution is based on whether play-by-play or color commentators speak specific phrases during the Padres vs Dodgers game originally scheduled for July 5, 2026. Each phrase—including MVP, Ohtani, Trade/Traded, Bases Loaded, Error, Pitch Clock, Bunt/Bunted, Extra Inning, Wild Pitch, Grand Slam, Walk Off, Pinch Hitter/Pinch Hit, What a Catch, No Hitter, Sweep/Swept, Rob/Robbed, Shutout, and Dodger Stadium—must be stated exactly or in plural or possessive form; grammatical and tense inflections do not count as variations. Commentary is counted from the first pitch through game conclusion, including extra innings if applicable, and ends following the umpire's decision on any final play review. Resolution uses the national broadcast if available; otherwise the home team's local broadcast is used. Promotional content aired during the event counts, but advertisements do not. Previously aired content, archival footage, and recordings from separate times or events are excluded. If the game is cancelled or fails to qualify, or if normal resolution is prevented by any circumstance, the "Event does not qualify" market resolves to Yes and all other markets resolve to No. If postponed and rescheduled within 14 calendar days with announcement by the following day, markets remain open.
Prediction market odds reflect aggregated trader beliefs and often diverge from traditional analyst commentary because they incorporate real-money incentives and continuous price discovery. While sports analysts may rely on historical data and subjective judgment about announcer tendencies, this market prices outcomes based on what participants actually believe will occur, updated moment-to-moment. Analysts typically publish forecasts infrequently, whereas market odds adjust instantly as new information emerges. Over time, prediction markets have demonstrated competitive accuracy against expert predictions, especially when liquidity is robust and participants have strong domain knowledge about baseball broadcasting conventions.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares corresponding to each possible outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices range from near zero to near one hundred, reflecting the implied probability that a given announcer statement will occur. Traders profit by correctly predicting which phrases or mentions will be broadcast, and losses occur when their positions move against them. The platform charges standard fees on trades, and settlement payouts are determined once the game concludes and outcomes are verified.
This market resolves around Jul 19, 2026, after the Padres versus Dodgers game concludes and broadcast commentary can be reviewed. The outcome is determined by verifying which announcer statements actually occurred during the game against credible public sources, including official broadcast recordings and reputable sports media coverage. Once the event is complete and outcomes are confirmed, this market settles and traders receive payouts proportional to their correct predictions. Participants should monitor the game broadcast directly or follow established sports news outlets for real-time confirmation.
Market prices may shift based on roster changes, injury announcements, or lineup adjustments that affect game narrative and likely broadcast focus. Breaking news about player milestones, historical records, or rivalry storylines can influence trader expectations about what announcers will emphasize. Weather conditions, venue factors, or playoff implications may also drive commentary themes and thus alter outcome probabilities. As game time approaches, increased trading activity and refined forecasts typically narrow spreads. Finally, any public statements from broadcasters or network previews about planned coverage angles could trigger significant repricing across all outcomes in this market.
