During the Cardinals vs Angels baseball game scheduled for July 20, 2026, official broadcast commentators (play-by-play, color commentators, rules analysts, and sideline reporters) may mention specific phrases or terms during their commentary. Each market tracks whether particular words or phrases are spoken during the game broadcast.
Resolution is based on whether official broadcast commentators—including play-by-play announcers, color commentators, rules analysts, and sideline reporters—use specific target phrases during the Cardinals vs Angels game. Commentary is counted from the first pitch through the conclusion of the final inning, including extra innings if applicable. Commentary ends following the umpire's decision on any final play review. The national broadcast is used for resolution; if unavailable, the home team's local broadcast applies. Commercials do not count, but promotional content within the game broadcast does. Commentary from players, coaches, umpires, guests, halftime reporters, or non-official broadcast personnel is excluded. Target phrases must be used exactly or in plural or possessive forms; grammatical and tense variations are not counted. If the game is cancelled or fails to qualify under these criteria, the "Event does not qualify" market resolves to Yes and all other markets resolve to No. If postponed and rescheduled within 14 calendar days with announcement by the following day, markets remain open. Video of the broadcast is the primary resolution source; official transcripts are used if video consensus cannot be reached.
Prediction market odds reflect real-money commitments from traders who research and price outcomes based on available information, whereas traditional analyst forecasts often rely on subjective judgment or limited data sets. This market aggregates dispersed knowledge from many participants, which can reveal patterns that individual experts might miss. Analysts typically focus on broad game narratives, while prediction markets capture granular details about specific announcer phrases and commentary themes. Over time, markets that incorporate diverse trader perspectives tend to outperform single-analyst predictions, particularly for niche events like specific broadcast commentary.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through continuous order-book matching, where traders submit bids and asks for each possible announcer statement outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices range from near-zero to near-100 cents per share, reflecting the implied probability that a given phrase will be mentioned during the broadcast. As new information emerges—such as lineup changes or injury updates—traders adjust their positions, moving prices in real time. The spread between bid and ask prices tightens as the game approaches and more traders participate, improving price discovery and reducing transaction costs for active participants.
This market resolves around Aug 4, 2026, once the Cardinals vs Angels game concludes and broadcast footage becomes available for verification. The outcome is confirmed by comparing actual announcer commentary against the predicted statements, verified against credible public sources such as official broadcast recordings or reputable sports media transcripts. Traders will know the result shortly after the game ends, assuming the broadcast is accessible and the commentary can be clearly documented. Resolution typically occurs within hours of game completion, allowing rapid settlement and payout distribution.
Key catalysts include roster changes, injury announcements, or trades involving star players on either team, which often prompt broadcasters to discuss team dynamics extensively. Weather conditions at game time can shift commentary focus toward field conditions or playing strategy. Milestone achievements—such as a player approaching a career record—frequently trigger announcer discussion and increase the probability of specific phrases. Pre-game press conferences and manager statements also influence what broadcasters emphasize during live coverage. Additionally, betting trends and public sentiment shifts can move odds as traders react to emerging information or adjust their positions ahead of game time.
