Jon Ossoff, a U.S. Senator from Georgia, is scheduled to appear as a guest on The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell, a weeknight news and opinion program. The markets track whether Ossoff will use specific words or phrases during his on-air remarks in an official capacity.
Resolution is based on Jon Ossoff's statements during the live broadcast or stream of The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell, with video as the primary source and official transcripts as backup if consensus cannot be reached. Ossoff must speak in an official capacity; inaudible private conversations or unofficial statements do not qualify. Each market resolves Yes if Ossoff uses the exact word or phrase specified (or plural/possessive forms), with grammatical and tense inflections otherwise excluded. Plural nouns within proper nouns and noun phrases are included. Only content from the original live broadcast or stream counts; promotional content is included but advertisements are excluded. Previously aired content, archival footage, and recordings from separate events do not count. If the event is cancelled or fails to qualify, all markets resolve No and the "Event does not qualify" market resolves Yes. If postponed with announcement by the end of the following calendar day to a date within 14 calendar days, markets remain open.
Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they aggregate real-time trader behavior rather than relying on expert opinion alone. In this market, odds reflect what traders collectively believe Ossoff will say, incorporating recent news, polling data, and media coverage. Analysts may focus on historical patterns or prepared remarks, while prediction markets price in late-breaking developments and market sentiment. The continuous price discovery on this market can sometimes lead or lag analyst consensus depending on information flow and trader conviction.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome carries a price between 0 and 100 cents, reflecting the implied probability that Ossoff will make a particular statement during the appearance. Traders profit by correctly predicting the outcome, with prices adjusting in real time as new bets flow in. The spread between bid and ask prices tightens as the event date approaches and more capital enters the market.
This market resolves around Jul 31, 2026, after Senator Ossoff's appearance on The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell has aired. The outcome is determined by verifying what he actually said during the broadcast against credible public sources, including video recordings and official transcripts. Once the episode is available and the specific statements can be confirmed, the market settles based on whether the predicted remarks match what was actually said on air.
Several catalysts could shift odds before resolution. Breaking news involving Ossoff or topics he typically discusses could increase trader conviction in certain outcomes. Statements from the senator's office about appearance topics, shifts in current events, or changes to the broadcast schedule would all influence pricing. Media speculation about what he might address, combined with recent legislative activity or political developments, tends to drive volume and repricing. As the air date nears, any official preview or hint about the interview's focus could trigger significant market movement.
