These markets track specific words and phrases that U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin may say during his appearance on MSNBC's The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell. Resolution depends on whether Raskin speaks in an official capacity during the live broadcast and uses the exact words or their grammatical variants as specified in each market.
Resolution is based on Jamie Raskin's statements during the live broadcast or stream of The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell, with video as the primary source and official transcripts as backup if consensus cannot be reached. Raskin must speak in an official capacity for the event to qualify; inaudible private conversations or unofficial statements do not count. Only content from the original live broadcast qualifies—promotional content counts but advertisements do not, and previously aired content or archival footage does not count. For each phrase or word tracked, the exact term or its plural or possessive forms must be used; grammatical and tense inflections are otherwise not included. If the event is cancelled or fails to qualify under these criteria, all markets resolve to No. If the event is postponed but rescheduled within 14 calendar days with announcement by the end of the following calendar day, markets remain open.
Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they reflect real-money incentives and continuous price discovery rather than static polling snapshots. In this market, traders adjust odds dynamically based on breaking news, legislative developments, and media coverage leading up to the appearance. Analysts may issue point estimates or qualitative assessments, but the market aggregates dispersed information from many participants betting on specific outcomes. This real-time pricing mechanism typically captures emerging consensus faster than periodic analyst updates, though both approaches offer complementary perspectives on what the congressman may say.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through an order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for each potential outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The platform matches buyers and sellers, and the last executed price becomes the current odds for that outcome. Prices range from 0 to 100 cents, representing implied probability. As new information emerges—such as scheduled appearances, recent statements, or political developments—traders continuously adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. This continuous auction process ensures that market prices reflect the collective assessment of all active participants at any given moment.
This market resolves around Jul 10, 2026, after the scheduled appearance concludes. The outcome is determined by verifying what the congressman actually says during the broadcast against credible public reporting, including video recordings and official transcripts. Once the episode airs and statements are confirmed, the market settles based on which outcome occurred. Traders holding positions on the correct outcome receive payouts proportional to their stake and the odds at which they entered. Early resolution is possible if the appearance is cancelled or postponed indefinitely.
Several catalysts could shift odds significantly before resolution. Major legislative votes, committee hearings, or breaking political news involving the congressman may prompt traders to reassess what topics he will prioritize on air. Announcements about the specific air date or episode theme could narrow or broaden outcome probabilities. Recent public statements or social media activity from the representative often signal his current focus areas. Media coverage and pundit commentary about anticipated topics also influence trader positioning. Finally, any indication that the appearance might be rescheduled or cancelled would trigger rapid repricing across all outcomes in this market.
