Jack Smith, the Special Counsel, is scheduled to appear on MSNBC's "Deadline White House" program. These markets track whether he uses specific words or phrases during his on-air remarks in an official capacity.
Resolution is based on Jack Smith speaking in an official capacity during the live broadcast or stream of MS NOW: Deadline White House. Only content from the original broadcast counts; previously aired content, archival footage, advertisements, and recordings from separate events are excluded, though promotional content aired during the event is included. For phrase/word matching, exact language or plural/possessive forms are required, with grammatical and tense inflections otherwise not counted. Plural nouns within proper nouns and noun phrases are included. If Jack Smith is present but does not speak in an official capacity (such as inaudible private conversations or unofficial statements on a hot mic), the event does not qualify and all markets resolve to No. If the event is cancelled or fails to qualify under these criteria, the "Event does not qualify" market resolves to Yes and all other markets resolve to No. If the event is postponed and rescheduled within 14 calendar days with announcement by the end of the following calendar day, markets remain open.
Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they reflect real-money incentives rather than opinion polling. While analysts may rely on historical patterns or qualitative judgment, this market aggregates the financial commitments of traders who profit only if their predictions prove correct. Comparing the current odds on this market to published commentary from political analysts or media forecasters can reveal where the crowd expects outcomes to differ from expert consensus. Such gaps sometimes signal emerging information or shifting sentiment not yet reflected in formal analysis.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share trades at a price between 0 and 100 cents, with the price directly reflecting the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As new orders flow in, the bid-ask spread tightens or widens based on supply and demand. Traders profit by buying low and selling high, or by holding shares until resolution. The platform's matching engine ensures transparent price discovery throughout the market's lifetime.
This market resolves around Jul 17, 2026, at which point the outcome is confirmed through credible public reporting of the broadcast. The resolution hinges on whether Jack Smith makes specific statements during the MSNBC program, verified against recorded footage and reliable news coverage. Once the event concludes and the outcome is verifiable, the market settles and traders receive payouts based on their positions. The exact resolution mechanics depend on the specific outcome categories defined at market creation.
Several catalysts could shift odds before the broadcast airs. Announcements about the program's guest list or confirmed segment topics may increase or decrease the probability of Jack Smith appearing. Breaking news related to ongoing legal or political developments could alter trader expectations about what statements he might make. Media speculation or leaks about the interview content would likely trigger sharp price moves. Additionally, any public statements from Jack Smith or his representatives before the broadcast could reset market pricing. Real-time social media trends and news cycles typically drive intraday volatility in politically sensitive markets like this one.
