Prediction markets and traditional polls measure candidate strength differently. Polls capture voter sentiment at a single moment, while this market reflects traders' financial commitments to specific outcomes over time. Market odds often incorporate information beyond polls—including fundraising, endorsements, and ground-game signals—because traders face real economic incentives to forecast accurately. When this market diverges significantly from polling averages, it may signal that traders are pricing in dynamics polls have not yet captured, or conversely, that polls are leading market expectations.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader activity into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each candidate outcome is represented as a separate contract, and the price of each reflects the probability traders assign to that result. As traders buy shares in a candidate, that candidate's price rises; selling pressure lowers it. The system ensures continuous liquidity and transparent pricing, so you can enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes.
This market resolves around Aug 4, 2026, once the primary election concludes and results are verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which candidate or candidates advance from the primary, as officially reported by Washington State election authorities. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution timing may shift slightly if official results are delayed or contested, but the market will settle based on the final, verified primary outcome.
Major campaign developments typically drive significant price swings in this market. Candidate endorsements, debate performances, fundraising announcements, and media coverage can shift trader sentiment rapidly. Polling releases often trigger repricing, especially if they show unexpected momentum shifts. Candidate withdrawals or entry into the race create sharp adjustments. Local news, scandals, or gaffes may also influence odds. Additionally, turnout forecasts and voter registration trends can move prices as traders reassess the electorate composition. Each of these signals prompts traders to recalibrate their probability estimates and adjust positions accordingly.
