This set of markets tracks potential movements in the USD to CAD exchange rate at a specific future moment. Each market evaluates whether the rate surpasses a particular threshold, offering insights into various possible outcomes for currency valuation.
All markets resolve based on the USDCAD exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on September 25, 2026, as published by Pyth. Each market has a unique threshold; if the rate is above its specified level at that time, the market resolves to Yes, otherwise to No. Data is rounded to four decimal places. If Pyth does not publish data at exactly 5pm ET, the most recent available value before that time will be used. Post-expiration revisions to the exchange rate do not affect resolution. All markets share these consistent secondary rules for data sourcing and tie-breaking.
Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts frequently rely on economic models and fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, incorporating a wider range of information and potential unforeseen events. Discrepancies can arise due to differing assumptions about factors influencing the USDCAD exchange rate, such as interest rate changes, geopolitical developments, or shifts in commodity prices. Examining these differences can provide valuable insights into market sentiment and potential blind spots in conventional analysis.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, where traders buy and sell contracts representing different USDCAD price ranges. The price of each contract reflects the probability of the USDCAD exchange rate falling within that range at the specified time. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the collective expectation of the market. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows for real-time adjustments based on new information and changing sentiment, creating a continuously updated forecast of the USDCAD price.
This market resolves around Sep 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the USDCAD exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on September 25th is verifiable from credible public reporting. The market will settle to the value of 100 minus the absolute difference between the final USDCAD price and the contract's strike price, expressed in cents. This means a contract closer to the actual price will have a higher payout. The resolution process ensures a transparent and objective determination of the market's outcome based on publicly available data.
Several key signals and events could significantly move this market before Sep 25, 2026. Unexpected changes in monetary policy from either the Bank of Canada or the Federal Reserve would likely have a substantial impact on the USDCAD exchange rate. Major economic data releases, such as employment reports or inflation figures from Canada and the United States, could also trigger price fluctuations. Geopolitical events, shifts in global risk sentiment, and fluctuations in crude oil prices—given Canada’s status as a major oil exporter—are additional factors that could influence trading activity and price discovery in this market.
