The event tracks the performance of the USD to CAD currency exchange rate at a specific future moment. Participants assess whether the rate exceeds various thresholds, allowing them to speculate on economic trends and currency strength without direct involvement in financial trading.
All markets resolve based on the USDCAD exchange rate's opening value at 5:00 PM EDT on August 21, 2026, as published by Pyth. Each market has a specific threshold (e.g., 1.365, 1.367, etc.), and if the rate is above that threshold at the specified time, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. Data is rounded to four decimal places. If Pyth does not publish data at exactly 5:00 PM EDT, the most recent available value before that time will be used. Any revisions to the exchange rate after the expiration time are disregarded when determining the resolution.
On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Kalshi, traders submit bids and asks that directly set the market price through continuous trading. The current top outcome reflects the aggregate expectations of all participants, adjusted for order book depth and recent trading activity. Volume and price action on Kalshi are updated live, allowing participants to gauge market momentum and potential shifts in sentiment as new information emerges.
Key signals that could shift this market include major economic data releases from the U.S. and Canada, central bank policy announcements, sudden shifts in risk sentiment, and geopolitical developments affecting currency flows. Traders will also watch for significant movements in correlated markets, such as bond yields and equity markets, which often influence short-term currency pricing. Any unexpected policy changes or global shocks have the potential to rapidly alter market expectations.
