This set of markets tracks potential movements in the USD to BRL exchange rate at a specific future moment. Each market evaluates whether the rate surpasses a particular threshold, offering insights into various possible outcomes for currency valuation.
All markets resolve based on the opening candlestick value of the USDBRL exchange rate published by Pyth at 5pm ET on September 25, 2026. For each market, if the rate is above the specified threshold at that time, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. The resolution uses the most recently available data if Pyth does not publish a value at the exact time, and revisions after the expiration time are disregarded. All rates are rounded to four decimal places for evaluation.
Currently, the collective wisdom of traders on Kalshi offers a distinct perspective when compared to traditional analyst forecasts for the USDBRL exchange rate. While analysts often provide point estimates or ranges, this market aggregates diverse opinions into a probability distribution. This can reveal not just *what* the market expects, but also *how confident* it is in those expectations. Discrepancies between the prediction market and analyst consensus may highlight overlooked factors or differing interpretations of economic data, offering a unique signal for those following the currency pair.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing different potential outcomes for the USDBRL exchange rate. The price of each contract reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust dynamically, creating a real-time forecast. The market’s depth and liquidity, as indicated by the volume traded, also influence price discovery.
This market resolves around Sep 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the USDBRL exchange rate is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final price will be determined by the mid-price of the USDBRL exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on September 25th, as reported by a widely recognized financial data provider. Traders will then be paid out based on whether their contracts align with the actual outcome. This provides a clear and objective basis for determining the market’s result.
Several factors could significantly impact the USDBRL exchange rate and, consequently, this market. Major economic data releases from both the United States and Brazil, such as inflation reports, GDP figures, and employment numbers, are key catalysts. Unexpected political developments in either country, including policy changes or shifts in government leadership, could also trigger volatility. Furthermore, global risk sentiment and fluctuations in commodity prices, particularly oil, can influence the currency pair. Monitoring these events will be crucial for understanding potential price movements in this market.
