This event tracks potential changes to Turkey's key interest rate during its scheduled monetary policy meeting. Outcomes depend entirely on the official rate announcement following the meeting, with specific thresholds defining each possible result.
All markets resolve based solely on the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye's official policy rate announcement at its October Monetary Policy Committee Meeting. The resolution hinges on comparing the announced rate to the rate in effect immediately prior to the meeting, using the following criteria: a cut of more than 250 basis points resolves 'Cut more than 250bps' as Yes; a cut of 1-250 basis points resolves 'Cut 1-250bps' as Yes; maintaining the exact previous rate resolves 'Maintain current rate' as Yes; a hike of 1-250 basis points resolves 'Hike 1-250bps' as Yes; and a hike of more than 250 basis points resolves 'Hike more than 250bps' as Yes. If the meeting is cancelled or delayed beyond the expiration date, all 'Maintain current rate' markets resolve as Yes while all others resolve as No. Emergency rate changes occurring outside scheduled meetings do not affect these resolutions. For central banks maintaining multiple policy rates, only changes to the primary policy rate are considered. Basis points are calculated such that 100 basis points equal one percentage point.
Currently, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional analyst forecasts for the Turkish interest rate decision. While many analysts predict a continued tightening of monetary policy, this market reflects a wider range of possibilities, incorporating the collective wisdom of traders. It’s common to see discrepancies between prediction markets and polls or expert opinions, as markets aggregate information from a diverse set of participants and react quickly to new developments. This difference can be valuable for understanding the potential range of outcomes and the level of uncertainty surrounding the event.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction mechanism, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust dynamically, providing a real-time assessment of expectations. The current price of a contract indicates how much it costs to bet on a specific interest rate decision, and the implied probability is derived from that price. The market’s depth and volume contribute to price discovery.
This market resolves around Oct 22, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official announcement of the interest rate decision made by the Turkish central bank. The specific rate set by the central bank will determine which outcome in this market is considered correct. Traders will be able to see the final result and whether their predictions were accurate following the central bank’s announcement and subsequent verification of the data. The market will then settle based on the pre-defined contract terms.
Several signals and events could significantly move this market before its resolution. Unexpected economic data releases from Turkey, such as inflation figures or GDP growth, could shift expectations. Geopolitical events and statements from Turkish government officials regarding monetary policy are also key catalysts. Furthermore, changes in global risk sentiment or major currency fluctuations could influence the market. Any news suggesting a shift in the central bank’s stance, or a change in the economic outlook, would likely lead to increased trading volume and price adjustments in this market. Monitoring these factors is crucial for understanding potential market movements.
