This market will resolve to "Yes" if the Trump administration declassifies any files pertaining to extraterrestrial life and/or unexplained aerial phenomena which were not previously publicly available by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For purposes of this market, the “Trump administration” includes the Executive Office of the President and all executive branch departments, agencies, and subordinate offices under presidential authority during the Trump presidency, including the Department of Defense and its components. Announcements of declassifications that are not implemented within this market's timeframe will not count. The primary resolution source for declassification will be official information from the government of the United States; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.

Prediction market odds and traditional polling measure different things. Polls capture stated public opinion at a single moment, while this market reflects traders' aggregated beliefs about a specific future event, weighted by financial incentive. Prediction markets often incorporate information faster than polls because participants have money at stake. However, both can diverge from actual outcomes. For this particular event, comparing market odds to any available polling on public sentiment toward government transparency or UFO disclosure could reveal whether traders are pricing in factors beyond what surveys capture.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader activity into real-time probabilities. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Shares representing each outcome trade continuously, and the current price of the leading outcome reflects the collective belief of all active traders. When more traders buy shares predicting declassification will occur, the price rises; when selling pressure increases, it falls. This mechanism ensures the market price stays responsive to new information and trader sentiment throughout the event window.
This market resolves around Aug 31, 2026, at which point the outcome will be confirmed based on verifiable public reporting. The resolution hinges on whether new UFO files are officially declassified by the specified deadline. Once credible sources confirm or deny the declassification, the market will settle accordingly, and traders holding the correct outcome will receive their winnings. Until that date, prices may fluctuate as political developments, official statements, or media coverage shift trader expectations.
Several catalysts could shift prices significantly. Official announcements from the executive branch about declassification plans would likely trigger sharp moves. Congressional hearings or legislative pressure on transparency could increase conviction among traders. Media reports about UFO-related government activity or leaked documents might also influence sentiment. Changes in political leadership or policy priorities could alter the perceived likelihood of action. Additionally, any credible public statements from officials directly addressing UFO file releases would be closely watched by market participants seeking to adjust their positions ahead of the resolution date.
