Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for Russell 2000 (RUT) on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 is higher than the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for RUT on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for Russell 2000 (RUT) on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 is lower than the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for RUT on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If RUT does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Russell 2000 Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Russell 2000 price movement market tracks whether the RUT index closes higher or lower on June 30, 2026. The dashboard displays real-time odds for each outcome, historical price data, and trading volume metrics. Traders use this market to express views on near-term equity market direction, specifically the small-cap segment represented by the Russell 2000. The interface shows how market participants are pricing the probability of an up or down close, updated continuously as new trades execute throughout the trading day.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they reflect real-money incentives and crowd sentiment rather than formal equity research. While sell-side analysts publish price targets and ratings based on fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the beliefs of traders who profit or lose based on actual outcomes. Comparing the implied probability here to consensus analyst views on small-cap equity performance can reveal where the crowd sees opportunity or risk that traditional research may have missed or underweighted.

On Polymarket, traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome, with the current price of each share reflecting the market's probability estimate. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The order book shows bids and asks, and prices adjust in real time as new trades occur. Liquidity and trading volume influence how easily traders can enter or exit positions at competitive prices. Higher trading activity typically narrows the spread between buy and sell prices, making the market more efficient and reflective of genuine consensus.

This market resolves around Jun 30, 2026, once the Russell 2000's closing price for that date is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by whether the RUT index closes above or below its opening level on June 30, 2026. Resolution occurs after market close and official data publication, ensuring all traders have access to the same verified information. Winning positions are credited based on which outcome occurred.

Macroeconomic data releases, Federal Reserve communications, and earnings reports can shift sentiment around small-cap equities and move this market significantly. Geopolitical developments, inflation reports, and changes in interest rate expectations often trigger repricing of growth-sensitive stocks in the Russell 2000. Corporate earnings surprises, sector-specific news, and broader market volatility also influence trader positioning. Technical levels and momentum shifts closer to June 30 may accelerate or reverse directional moves as traders adjust exposure ahead of the close.
