Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for Russell 2000 (RUT) on Monday, June 29, 2026 is higher than the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for RUT on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for Russell 2000 (RUT) on Monday, June 29, 2026 is lower than the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for RUT on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If RUT does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Russell 2000 Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Russell 2000 daily movement market tracks real-time odds on whether the RUT index will close higher or lower on June 29. The dashboard displays live pricing, historical price movements, and trading activity for this market. Traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome, and the current market price reflects the collective probability estimate. You can monitor how sentiment shifts throughout the day as new economic data, earnings reports, or broader market conditions influence positioning in this market.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they aggregate real-money bets from thousands of participants rather than relying on a small group of experts. Analysts may issue directional calls based on fundamental analysis, while this market prices in live sentiment, options positioning, and intraday momentum. Over time, prediction markets have proven competitive with or superior to expert consensus on short-term equity moves, particularly when the underlying event is binary and verifiable. Comparing the current odds here to published analyst sentiment on small-cap equity direction can reveal where the crowd sees edge.

On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on order flow and liquidity. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome share trades between 0 and 1, with the price representing the implied probability. When more traders buy the "Up" outcome, its price rises and the "Down" price falls accordingly. The spread between bid and ask reflects available liquidity; tighter spreads indicate deeper order books and lower slippage for traders entering or exiting positions in this market.

This market resolves around Jun 29, 2026, once the trading day closes and the Russell 2000 index final price is published. The outcome is determined by comparing the closing price on that date to the previous session's close. If the RUT closes higher, the "Up" outcome wins; if it closes lower, "Down" wins. Resolution is confirmed once the movement is verifiable from credible public financial data sources, ensuring all traders have access to the same authoritative information.

Major catalysts include Federal Reserve policy announcements, employment reports, inflation data, and earnings surprises from large small-cap constituents. Geopolitical developments, interest rate expectations, and shifts in risk appetite can drive broad equity sentiment. Intraday volatility often spikes around 10 a.m. ET when key economic releases drop, and the final hour of trading frequently sees position squaring or momentum chasing. Monitoring VIX levels, Treasury yields, and sector rotation in real estate and technology—which are heavily weighted in the Russell 2000—can help anticipate directional pressure on this market.
