Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for Russell 2000 (RUT) on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 is higher than the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for RUT on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for Russell 2000 (RUT) on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 is lower than the official Russell 2000 Index closing price for RUT on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If RUT does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Russell 2000 Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader conviction, which often diverges from traditional analyst consensus. While equity strategists may issue broad guidance on market direction or economic conditions, prediction markets price a specific outcome—RUT direction on a single date. Analysts typically focus on longer-term trends and fundamental drivers, whereas traders on Polymarket incorporate real-time data, Fed decisions, earnings surprises, and volatility shifts. Comparing the two reveals whether professional forecasters and market participants align or disagree on near-term small-cap momentum.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the RUT outcome is priced as binary shares: one contract for RUT Up and one for RUT Down. Traders buy and sell these shares, and the current price of each reflects the probability assigned by the market. At any moment, the Up and Down prices sum to approximately 100 cents, with the spread between them indicating confidence in either direction. Volume and liquidity on Polymarket determine how easily you can enter or exit positions, and prices adjust dynamically as new information arrives and trading interest shifts.

The market resolves on Jun 10, 2026, after the Russell 2000 index closes on June 10. The outcome is determined by comparing RUT's closing price on that date to its opening price or previous close, depending on the exact market specification. Once the official close is recorded, the winning outcome is confirmed and traders receive payouts accordingly. Resolution is typically automatic and occurs within hours of market close, ensuring rapid settlement and preventing extended uncertainty.

Key catalysts include Federal Reserve policy signals, inflation data, employment reports, and corporate earnings surprises affecting small-cap companies. Geopolitical tensions, credit market stress, or shifts in growth expectations can rapidly shift trader positioning. Sector-specific news—particularly in technology, financials, and industrials—often drives RUT volatility more sharply than large-cap indices. Overnight international market moves and pre-market sentiment also influence opening direction. Traders monitor volatility indices, yield curves, and options positioning to gauge conviction, all of which feed into real-time price adjustments on Polymarket leading up to June 10.
