Polymarket

The second round of the Peru presidential election is scheduled to be held on June 7, 2026. This market will resolve according to the turnout percentage (% Total Asistentes) in the second round Peru presidential election, calculated by dividing attendees (Asistentes) by eligible voters (Electores hábiles). This market will resolve solely based on turnout for the second-round Presidential (Presidencial) election. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If the results are not known definitively by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve solely on the official results as reported by the Peruvian government, specifically the National Office of Electoral Processes (Oficina Nacional de Procesos Electorales, ONPE) (https://www.onpe.gob.pe/elecciones/) and the National Jury of Elections (Jurado Nacional de Elecciones, JNE) (https://portal.jne.gob.pe/portal/).

Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect trader expectations about turnout in Peru's second-round election, which may diverge from traditional polling averages. While polls typically measure voter intent or historical participation patterns, prediction markets incorporate real-money incentives and incorporate breaking news, campaign momentum, and logistical factors. Traders price in uncertainty around voter mobilization, regional participation disparities, and potential boycotts or disruptions. Comparing market odds to poll-based turnout forecasts reveals whether traders expect higher or lower participation than historical or survey-based estimates suggest.

The market resolves on Jun 7, 2026, following the completion of Peru's second-round presidential election. Resolution is determined by official turnout figures released by Peru's electoral authority, typically calculated as the percentage of eligible voters who cast ballots in the runoff. The outcome depends on actual participation across all voting districts and methods, including in-person and any mail-in or early-voting mechanisms available. Once final turnout data is published and verified, the market settles to the outcome contract that matches the reported figure.

Key catalysts include announcements by Peru's electoral commission regarding voting logistics, polling place accessibility, or security measures that affect participation. Campaign intensity and candidate visibility in the final weeks can shift voter mobilization. Regional crises, strikes, or transportation disruptions may suppress turnout in specific areas. Demographic or political events—such as boycott calls, indigenous or labor-union mobilization, or urban-rural engagement shifts—could alter expectations. International observer reports and early-voting turnout data, if released, provide real-time signals. Media coverage of voter sentiment and pre-election surveys also influence trader positioning ahead of the runoff.
