This set of markets tracks the performance of the NZDUSD currency pair at a specific future date and time. Each market evaluates whether the exchange rate exceeds a particular threshold, allowing participants to speculate on the direction of the currency pair's value.
All markets resolve based on the NZDUSD exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5pm ET on September 25, 2026, as published by Pyth. Each market has a unique threshold; if the rate is above its respective threshold at that time, the market resolves to Yes, otherwise to No. Data is rounded to four decimal places. If Pyth does not publish data at the exact time, the most recent available value is used. Post-expiration revisions to the exchange rate do not affect the resolution.
Currently, it's important to note that prediction market odds often reflect a different kind of information than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts rely on economic models and fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to make accurate predictions. Often, this market can provide a more real-time and nuanced view of expectations, particularly as new information emerges. Comparing this market to polls or expert opinions can reveal whether the crowd anticipates a different outcome than conventional wisdom suggests.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing different potential NZDUSD price ranges. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that price range being the correct one at the market’s close. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders adjust their bids and asks based on their own analysis and expectations, creating a dynamic market price. The spread between the best bid and ask indicates the level of uncertainty and liquidity in the market.
This market resolves around Sep 25, 2026, with the outcome determined by the official NZDUSD exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on September 25th. The final price will be verified against credible public reporting from financial data providers. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the correct price range will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on incorrect ranges will not. The market's resolution provides a clear and objective assessment of predictive accuracy.
Several factors could significantly influence this market before Sep 25, 2026. Major economic data releases from both New Zealand and the United States, such as inflation reports, employment figures, and GDP growth, are key catalysts. Unexpected geopolitical events or shifts in global risk sentiment could also drive movements in the NZDUSD exchange rate. Central bank announcements from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and the Federal Reserve regarding monetary policy are particularly important, as they directly impact currency valuations. Any surprise announcements or deviations from expectations could lead to substantial price swings.
