Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA (NYA) on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 is higher than the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA (NYA) on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 is lower than the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If NYA does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by NYSE Composite Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds reflect real-money trader conviction and often diverge from traditional analyst sentiment. While financial analysts may publish directional calls or price targets for the NYA, this market aggregates the collective judgment of thousands of participants betting their own capital. Prediction markets typically incorporate breaking news and intraday momentum faster than published research, making them a complementary signal to analyst consensus. Comparing the implied probability here to expert forecasts can reveal where the crowd sees opportunity or risk that conventional analysis may have missed.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that prices binary outcomes as a percentage probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on one outcome—either up or down—and the current price reflects the marginal trader's valuation. Liquidity providers earn fees on trades, while speculators buy and sell shares to express their view. The market price adjusts continuously as new orders flow in, ensuring that the odds you see represent the most recent consensus among active participants on the platform.

This market resolves around Jun 16, 2026, once the trading day concludes and the final closing price is recorded. The outcome is determined by whether the NYA index closes above or below its opening level on that date. Resolution is verified against credible public sources to ensure accuracy and fairness. Traders who correctly predicted the direction receive their winnings, while those on the losing side forfeit their stake. The resolution process is typically completed within hours of market close.

Major catalysts for this market include economic data releases, Federal Reserve communications, earnings announcements, and broad market sentiment shifts. Geopolitical developments or unexpected corporate news can trigger sharp repricing of the NYA. Intraday momentum and technical levels often influence short-term trader positioning, especially as the close approaches. Sector rotation, interest rate expectations, and correlation with other indices like the S&P 500 also play a role. Traders monitor financial news outlets and economic calendars closely to anticipate moves that could swing the outcome before the final bell.
