This market will resolve to "Up" if the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA (NYA) on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 is higher than the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA (NYA) on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 is lower than the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If NYA does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by NYSE Composite Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Prediction market odds reflect real-money incentives, meaning traders who forecast incorrectly lose capital, creating a powerful mechanism for accuracy. In contrast, traditional analyst forecasts often lack direct financial consequences and may be influenced by institutional biases or reputational concerns. This market prices in forward-looking sentiment from active participants willing to stake money on their conviction. While analyst reports provide fundamental research and context, the odds here represent a decentralized consensus built on skin-in-the-game economics rather than institutional consensus.
On Polymarket, traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome—NYA up or down—with prices ranging from 0 to 1 (or 0% to 100%). On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price reflects the collective willingness of buyers and sellers to transact at any given moment. As new information surfaces or market sentiment shifts, prices adjust in real time. Liquidity providers and active traders continuously update their positions, ensuring the odds stay responsive to changing expectations about the index's direction on the settlement date.
This market resolves around Jul 7, 2026, once the trading window closes and the NYA index's closing direction for that day is finalized. The outcome is determined by whether the index closes above or below its opening level on July 7. Resolution is verified against credible public financial data sources to confirm the official closing price. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless.
Major macroeconomic announcements—including employment reports, inflation data, Federal Reserve decisions, or earnings surprises—can shift sentiment sharply. Geopolitical developments, sector-specific news affecting smaller-cap stocks, and broader market volatility also influence directional bets. Intraday momentum and technical levels may attract short-term traders closer to July 7. Unexpected corporate actions, regulatory changes, or shifts in market breadth could sway the odds as traders reassess their conviction. Real-time price discovery means this market remains sensitive to any new information until the close.
