This market will resolve to "Up" if the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA (NYA) on Monday, July 13, 2026 is higher than the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA (NYA) on Monday, July 13, 2026 is lower than the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If NYA does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by NYSE Composite Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they reflect real-money incentives and continuous price discovery rather than periodic published reports. Analysts may issue directional calls based on fundamental research, while this market aggregates thousands of independent traders' views into a single probability. When analyst sentiment shifts or new data surfaces, prediction market prices typically adjust faster than formal forecast updates. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus is strongest and where contrarian opportunities may exist.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader orders into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Participants buy shares representing "Up" or "Down" outcomes, and the price of each share reflects the probability assigned by the market. As more traders buy one outcome, its price rises and the opposing outcome's price falls, creating a self-balancing system. This mechanism ensures prices remain responsive to new information and trader conviction throughout the event window.
This market resolves around Jul 13, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution hinges on whether the NYA closes higher or lower on that date compared to its opening level. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing shares expire worthless. The exact timing of payout distribution depends on Polymarket's confirmation process following official market data publication.
Major economic announcements, Federal Reserve communications, and corporate earnings reports can trigger sharp moves in this market. Geopolitical developments, inflation data, and sector-specific news may shift trader conviction about near-term price direction. Technical levels and options expiry dates can also influence volatility and positioning. Real-time market reactions to breaking news often cause rapid repricing, so monitoring financial media and economic calendars helps traders anticipate momentum shifts before they fully materialize in the odds.
