This market will resolve to "Up" if the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA (NYA) on Friday, July 10, 2026 is higher than the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA (NYA) on Friday, July 10, 2026 is lower than the official NYSE Composite Index closing price for NYA on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If NYA does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by NYSE Composite Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Prediction market odds reflect real-money trader positioning and differ from traditional analyst forecasts in that they incorporate live market sentiment rather than published research reports. While equity analysts typically issue target prices and directional calls based on fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the views of thousands of traders who have financial skin in the game. Comparing the implied probability here to consensus analyst sentiment can reveal whether the crowd expects a move that mainstream research has underestimated or overestimated.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker (AMM) mechanism, where the cost of buying "Up" or "Down" shares reflects the current probability implied by the order book. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome trades as a separate contract, and the sum of both probabilities equals 100 percent. As traders buy or sell shares, the price adjusts dynamically, allowing you to enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes on Jul 10, 2026.
This market resolves around Jul 10, 2026, after the NYSE American index closes for the trading day. The outcome is determined by comparing the closing price on July 10 to the previous trading day's close. If the index finishes higher, the "Up" outcome wins; if it finishes lower, "Down" wins. Resolution is verified against credible public financial data sources once the official close is confirmed.
Market-moving catalysts for the NYA include macroeconomic data releases (jobs reports, inflation figures, Fed decisions), earnings announcements from major small-cap and mid-cap companies, geopolitical developments, and shifts in broader equity sentiment. Technical levels and support-resistance zones on the index itself can also trigger algorithmic trading and retail positioning changes. Intraday volatility spikes, sector rotation flows, and changes in risk appetite typically drive the largest swings in trader conviction as the resolution date approaches.
