Claire Valdez's performance in the 2026 NY-07 Democratic primary will be measured by her certified vote share. The market tracks whether she achieves various vote percentage thresholds, from 25% up to 55%, reflecting different levels of electoral strength.
Resolution is based on Claire Valdez's certified percentage of valid votes cast in the 2026 NY-07 Democratic primary, calculated as (total votes received ÷ total valid votes cast) × 100. Valid votes include write-in votes appearing in certified results; invalid, spoiled, or rejected ballots are excluded from both numerator and denominator. If ranked choice voting occurs, the percentage is based on the first round unless otherwise specified. Resolution uses only certified official results, not preliminary counts. If the election is cancelled, postponed beyond market expiration, or no certified results are available by expiration, the market resolves to No. If a recount changes the certified percentage before expiration, the most recent certified percentage determines resolution.
Prediction markets and traditional polls measure different things. Polls capture voter preference at a single moment, while this market aggregates trader beliefs about the final outcome—incorporating polls, campaign momentum, and expert judgment. Traders on Kalshi are financially incentivized to price accurately, which often leads markets to diverge from polls when new information emerges. Comparing this market's odds to recent polling on Valdez's support can reveal whether traders expect her standing to shift before the primary. Both data sources are useful: polls show current sentiment, while market odds reflect expectations of the eventual result.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where buyers and sellers trade shares representing yes or no outcomes. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the balance of capital betting on whether Valdez achieves at least 40% of the primary vote. As new information surfaces—such as endorsements, debate performance, or updated polling—traders adjust their positions, moving the price up or down. Your entry price depends on the live bid-ask spread at the moment you trade, and you can exit at any time before resolution by selling your shares back into the market.
This market resolves around Jun 23, 2027, once the New York 7th District Democratic primary has concluded and results are verified. The outcome is determined by whether Valdez's final vote share meets or exceeds the 40% threshold. Resolution will be confirmed once the outcome is verifiable from credible public reporting of official primary results. Traders holding yes shares are paid if she reaches 40%; those holding no shares are paid if she falls short. The market closes to new trading shortly before the primary election date.
Several catalysts could shift trader positioning before resolution. Major endorsements from party leaders, labor unions, or prominent figures can boost or diminish Valdez's perceived viability. Debate performances, campaign spending reports, and earned media coverage all influence expectations. New polling releases—especially if they show significant movement—often trigger sharp market repricing. Candidate gaffes, scandals, or strategic pivots can also reshape odds. Additionally, changes in the primary field itself, such as other candidates entering or withdrawing, alter the competitive landscape and Valdez's path to 40%. Traders monitor all these signals continuously, making this market a real-time barometer of her primary prospects.
