This market will resolve to "Yes" if Anthropic's next Claude Sonnet model is made available to the general public by the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No." Claude Sonnet refers to a model by Anthropic explicitly named Sonnet. Qualifying models include Claude Sonnet 5.1, Claude Sonnet 5.5, Sonnet 6, or any other Sonnet variants. Models under any other name, such as Opus, Haiku, Fable, or Mythos, will not qualify, unless the model is explicitly and officially named Sonnet by Anthropic. A qualifying model must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be either clearly defined and publicly announced by Anthropic as being accessible to the general public or otherwise made publicly accessible and explicitly labeled within the company’s official website. Labeling errors, placeholder text, or version names displayed on the website that do not correspond to a model that is actually accessible to the general public will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Anthropic, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.

Currently, the prevailing sentiment in this market suggests a high probability that the next Claude Sonnet model will be released by December 31, 2026. This aligns with many analyst forecasts, which anticipate continued rapid development and deployment of large language models. However, prediction markets can sometimes diverge from expert opinion, particularly when traders incorporate information not yet reflected in public analysis. While many experts predict a 2026 or 2027 release, this market provides a real-time assessment of collective belief, potentially offering a more nuanced view than static polls or reports.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring; a higher price indicates a greater perceived chance of success. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market uses a mechanism similar to a futures contract, where the price fluctuates based on supply and demand. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades are rewarded, while inaccurate beliefs can lead to losses. This dynamic pricing system aims to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd.
This market resolves around Jan 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the release date of the next Claude Sonnet model is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on a publicly announced release by Anthropic. The market will determine whether the release occurred before or after the specified date, based on official announcements and documentation. The outcome will be determined by the date Anthropic makes the model generally available to users, not necessarily the date of initial internal testing or limited beta access.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Announcements from Anthropic regarding their development progress, including timelines or specific features of the next Sonnet model, would likely cause price fluctuations. Unexpected delays in AI research or regulatory hurdles could push the release date back, decreasing the price of contracts predicting an earlier release. Conversely, positive news about model performance or a competitive push from other AI developers could accelerate the timeline, increasing those prices. Any major breakthroughs in AI safety or efficiency could also influence the market, as these developments could impact Anthropic’s release strategy.
