The market resolves based on the closing price of the natural gas NGDU6 contract at 5:00 PM EDT on July 31, 2026, measured from the end of the immediately preceding one-minute trading interval. Settlement uses the nearest active contract month, switching to the next contract if the current one expires within five business days. Prices are rounded to three decimal places, and missing data defaults to the most recent available price. Thresholds range incrementally from $0.999 to $4.899 USD/MMBtu, with each threshold defining a separate market outcome.
Compared to traditional analyst forecasts, prediction market odds offer a real-time aggregate of trader expectations and betting behavior. While analysts may publish target prices or trend assessments based on supply-demand models, this market captures crowd-sourced sentiment that can react instantly to news, weather events, or geopolitical developments affecting natural gas supplies and demand.
On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Kalshi, traders determine pricing through continuous bidding and asking, with the current top outcome reflecting the most likely price range as assessed by active participants. The market’s probability distribution adjusts dynamically based on trading volume of $30,784 and any new information influencing natural gas fundamentals or storage reports.
This market resolves around Jul 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final settlement will reflect the actual natural gas price at the specified time, closing all positions based on that definitive market value.
Several signals or events could shift this market before it resolves on Jul 31, 2026. Changes in global energy demand, especially from major economies, can influence natural gas prices. Supply disruptions—whether from geopolitical tensions, production outages, or storage issues—often create volatility. Weather patterns, particularly in key consuming regions, also play a significant role, as heating and cooling needs fluctuate. Additionally, shifts in inventory levels reported by major energy bodies and policy decisions from regulatory authorities can impact trader sentiment on Kalshi.
