Description

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the official closing price for Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) on July 6 is higher than the listed price. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No." If the final session is shortened (for example, due to a market-holiday schedule), the official closing price published for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If no official closing price is published for that session (for example, due to a trading halt into the close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. In the event of a stock split, reverse stock split, or similar corporate action affecting the listed company during the listed time frame, this market will resolve based on split-adjusted prices as displayed on Yahoo Finance. The target price will be adjusted proportionally to reflect any stock splits. Resolution will be based on the historical price data as shown on Yahoo Finance after any adjustments have been applied. The resolution source for this market is Yahoo Finance, specifically the Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) "Close" prices available at https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/MSFT/history, published under "Historical Prices."

Frequently asked questions

The MSFT stock price market dashboard on Polymarket displays real-time odds and historical price data for this binary event tied to Microsoft's closing price on a specific date. Traders can monitor the current probability estimate, recent price movements, and trading activity to gauge market sentiment around whether the stock will close above a predetermined level. The dashboard provides transparency into how participants are pricing this outcome, reflecting collective expectations from the prediction market community.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst price targets because they aggregate real-money bets from diverse traders rather than relying on a single research team's model. Analysts typically publish quarterly or annual forecasts with detailed reasoning, while this market prices a discrete binary outcome on a fixed date. Market-derived probabilities can shift rapidly in response to earnings reports, macroeconomic data, or sector news, whereas analyst revisions tend to lag. Both approaches offer valuable signals, but they answer slightly different questions about future stock performance.

On Polymarket, traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome, with the share price directly reflecting the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds are determined by supply and demand: as more traders purchase shares betting on a higher closing price, the price of those shares rises, and vice versa. This continuous price discovery mechanism allows participants to enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes, creating a dynamic and transparent reflection of collective expectations.

This market resolves around Jul 6, 2026, once the trading period ends and the event outcome becomes verifiable. The result is confirmed by reference to credible public sources reporting Microsoft's official closing price on that date. Traders who correctly predicted whether the stock would close above the specified threshold receive their winnings, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution is automatic once the data is available and verified.

Major catalysts include Microsoft's quarterly earnings reports, guidance revisions, and announcements regarding artificial intelligence investments or cloud computing growth. Broader market movements—such as Federal Reserve policy shifts, tech sector rotation, or macroeconomic data—can significantly impact the stock's trajectory. Competitive developments, regulatory news, or major product launches may also influence trader sentiment. Additionally, changes in market-wide risk appetite and volatility spikes can cause rapid repricing of this outcome as traders reassess their confidence in the closing price.
