Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often diverge from consensus analyst forecasts because traders incorporate real-time information, tail risks, and their own conviction in ways that traditional surveys may not. Analysts typically publish point estimates or ranges based on historical models and scheduled data releases, while this market prices in the full distribution of possible outcomes and updates continuously. When major economic reports or policy announcements drop, prediction market odds can shift faster than analyst consensus, making them a useful cross-check for identifying where professional forecasters may be lagging or overconfident.

On Limitless, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time odds. On Limitless, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders purchase shares representing different inflation outcomes, and the platform's pricing algorithm adjusts the cost of each outcome based on supply and demand. As new information arrives—whether employment data, commodity prices, or central bank signals—traders adjust their positions, which moves the odds. The current leading outcome reflects where the largest concentration of capital is positioned.

This market resolves around Jul 10, 2026, once the official inflation figure for the relevant period is published and verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the reported annual inflation rate against the outcome brackets defined in the market. Traders holding shares in the outcome bracket that matches the actual reported figure will receive their payout, while other positions expire worthless. Resolution timing depends on when the data is officially released and confirmed.

Key catalysts include monthly consumer price index releases, producer price data, wage growth reports, and any shifts in Chinese monetary or fiscal policy. Global commodity prices—especially oil and metals—can also influence inflation expectations. Central bank communications about inflation targets and rate decisions will likely trigger repricing. Geopolitical developments affecting supply chains and trade flows may alter inflation forecasts. Real-time economic surprises and revisions to prior months' data can shift trader positioning significantly as the resolution date approaches.
