This market tracks what share of valid votes leftist senator Iván Cepeda will capture in Colombia's first-round presidential election. On Polymarket, the leading outcome—that Cepeda wins between 40% and 45% of votes—stands at 41.0%, while the 35% to 40% range is at 36.0%. Resolution will be determined by Colombia's official election results. Watch the May 31, 2026 first round vote count to see whether Cepeda's support consolidates in the upper or lower range, with a potential second round scheduled for June 21 if no candidate exceeds 50%.
Colombia's presidential elections are scheduled for May 31, 2026, and a second round (if required) on June 21, 2026, in case no candidate secures more than 50% of the valid votes in the first round. This market will resolve according to the share of valid votes Iván Cepeda wins in the first round of the 2026 Colombian presidential election. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If a recount is initiated before the vote total has been made official, the market will remain open until the recount is completed and the vote is made official. This market's resolution will be based solely on the proportion of valid votes won by Iván Cepeda, not any coalition of which he may be a part. If the results of the election aren’t known by December 31, 2026 ET, this market will resolve to the lowest range bracket.
Prediction market odds reflect traders' collective assessment of Cepeda's first-round performance, which may diverge from traditional polling averages due to differences in methodology, timing, and participant incentives. While polls measure stated voter preferences at a single moment, prediction markets incorporate ongoing information and real money stakes, often leading markets to price in campaign momentum, coalition dynamics, and late-breaking developments that polls may lag in capturing. Comparing the two provides insight into whether markets view Cepeda's prospects as stronger or weaker than headline survey numbers suggest.
The market is scheduled to resolve on May 31, 2026, following Colombia's 2026 presidential first-round election. Resolution will be determined by the official vote share percentage that Iván Cepeda receives in that election. The outcome hinges on the actual ballots cast and certified results announced by Colombian electoral authorities. Traders should monitor official election commission announcements and credible news sources for the final vote tallies that will settle all related positions.
Key catalysts include major polling releases showing shifts in Cepeda's support, campaign announcements or endorsements from influential political figures, coalition formation or dissolution, economic or security developments affecting voter sentiment, and media coverage of Cepeda's policy positions or record. Primary debates or campaign events could reshape perceptions of his viability. International developments affecting Colombia's political climate, as well as rival candidates' momentum or missteps, may also influence how traders price Cepeda's chances of exceeding or staying below the 30% threshold in the first round.
