This event tracks the price of Chemical Lean Beef trim (0.65%) during July 2026 using USDA weekly pricing data. Participants predict whether the weighted average price will reach or exceed various strike prices ranging from $2.05 to $3.55 per pound.
Resolution is based on the USDA AMS National/Regional Weekly Boneless Processing Beef and Beef Trimmings report, which publishes weighted average prices for Chemical Lean Beef Trim (0.65%) in USD per pound. Each strike resolves independently to Yes if the reported weighted average meets or exceeds that strike price at any point during July 2026. A single qualifying weekly print is sufficient; no sustained price level is required. If a week shows zero reported trades or a $0.00 weighted average, that week is treated as unavailable and the most recently valid weekly value is used instead. If no valid data exists for the entire period, all strikes resolve to No. Prices reflect USDA's FOB Plant negotiated sales basis, exclude additional fees, and are rounded to two decimal places. Post-publication revisions or corrections to weekly reports do not affect resolution.
Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders with direct financial incentives to forecast accurately, often incorporating information faster than traditional analyst reports. While Wall Street economists and commodity analysts publish periodic outlooks on beef prices based on USDA data and industry surveys, this market aggregates distributed knowledge from many participants trading continuously. Comparing the implied probability here to published analyst consensus can reveal where the crowd sees upside or downside risk that consensus forecasts may have missed or underweighted.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing different price ranges for Chemical Lean Beef trim in July 2026. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The bid-ask spread reflects the market's liquidity and uncertainty; wider spreads indicate less consensus, while tighter spreads suggest stronger agreement on the likely outcome. As new data on cattle inventories, feed economics, or export demand surfaces, traders adjust their positions, moving the price to reflect updated expectations.
This market resolves around Oct 29, 2026, once the July 2026 price data for Chemical Lean Beef trim becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual settlement price recorded during that period, confirmed against authoritative commodity reporting. Traders who correctly predicted the price range will receive their winnings, while those on the wrong side of the move will see their positions expire worthless.
Major cattle inventory reports from the USDA, changes in feed grain prices, shifts in beef export demand, and weather patterns affecting ranching regions can all drive significant moves in this market. Trade policy announcements, domestic meat consumption trends, and competitor protein prices also influence expectations. Traders monitor these catalysts closely, adjusting positions ahead of scheduled data releases or when unexpected supply or demand shocks emerge, making the market a real-time reflection of evolving fundamentals.
