This market tracks the likelihood of Houthi military forces entering any part of Aden, Yemen. Currently, Polymarket gives a 29.5% probability to the outcome of Houthis entering Aden by December 31, 2026, and a 24% probability to the outcome of Houthis entering Aden by November 30, 2026. The market will resolve based on a consensus of credible reporting, as defined in the resolution source. Traders should closely watch developments in the region leading up to November 30, 2026, as this date represents the deadline for the second outcome and will likely be a key indicator of potential Houthi advances.
This market will resolve to "Yes" if Houthi military forces enter any part of Aden, Yemen by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". "Houthi military forces" refers to the military forces of the Houthi movement (Ansar Allah), including any armed force operating under its direction or on its behalf. "Aden" refers to the following districts of Aden Governorate, Yemen: Craiter (Sirah), At Tawahi, Al Mualla, Khur Maksar, Ash Shaikh Outhman, Dar Sad, and Al Mansura. Al Buraiqeh district (Little Aden) is excluded and entry into Al Buraiqeh alone will not qualify. "Enter" means that the Houthi military forces, even temporarily, deliberately operate within any part of Aden, other than as prisoners of war or as emissaries as described below. Bombardment, sabotage, naval presence offshore, or temporary disruption of activity will not qualify on their own. An announcement, threat, or claim of Houthi entry will not qualify without actual entry being established. The entrance of Houthi emissaries for the purpose of negotiating an agreement or other diplomatic or commercial endeavors will not alone qualify. In the event of genuine ambiguity, this market may remain open for three days after the specified date. If Houthi entry into Aden is not established by the end of the third calendar day, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting.
Comparing prediction market odds to polling averages reveals interesting insights into collective belief. While traditional polls rely on stated opinions, this market reflects what individuals are willing to *wager* on, often considered a more truthful signal. Currently, the market’s implied probability differs from recent analyst estimates, which suggest a later timeframe for a potential Houthi entry into Aden. This divergence highlights how the market incorporates a broader range of information and assesses risk differently than conventional forecasting methods. It's important to note that polls and market odds represent distinct perspectives on the same underlying question.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of Houthi forces entering Aden by a specific date. The price of these shares directly reflects the market’s consensus probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic representation of expectations. The current price indicates the market’s assessment of the probability, and traders can use this information to inform their own predictions and potentially profit from correctly anticipating the outcome.
This market resolves around Jan 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether Houthi forces are confirmed to have entered the city of Aden by that date. The outcome will be determined by assessing reports from reputable news sources and governmental organizations, ensuring a transparent and objective assessment of the situation. The market will then settle based on whether the condition has been met, providing a clear and definitive result for all participants.
Several signals and events could significantly move this market before Jan 1, 2027. Major escalations in fighting between Houthi forces and the Yemeni government, particularly around Aden, would likely impact the odds. Diplomatic breakthroughs or failures in peace negotiations could also shift expectations. Additionally, significant military aid or intervention from external actors, such as Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates, could alter the balance of power and influence market sentiment. Any credible reports of troop movements or strategic gains by either side will likely be reflected in the price of shares in this market.
