This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 is higher than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 is lower than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If HSI does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Hang Seng Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". On Polymarket, the HSI directional event is priced as a binary contract where traders buy or sell shares representing "Up" or "Down" outcomes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the ratio of capital deployed on each side; as traders accumulate positions, prices shift to balance supply and demand. Polymarket's automated market maker adjusts prices continuously, so the probability displayed updates in real time as new trades execute. Traders profit by buying low-probability outcomes that they believe are undervalued relative to true likelihood.
The market resolves at Jun 3, 2026, after the Hang Seng Index close on June 3. The outcome is determined by comparing HSI's closing price on that date to its opening price; if it closes higher, the "Up" outcome wins, and if it closes lower, the "Down" outcome wins. Resolution typically occurs within hours of market close once official HSI data is confirmed. Traders should monitor for any trading halts or exceptional circumstances that might affect the final settlement.
Major catalysts for HSI direction on June 3 include Chinese economic data releases, monetary policy signals from the People's Bank of China, U.S. Federal Reserve communications, and geopolitical developments affecting Hong Kong or mainland China. Corporate earnings announcements from Hang Seng constituents, currency movements in the Chinese yuan, and global risk sentiment shifts can also drive intraday volatility. Traders should monitor central bank calendars, earnings schedules, and international news flow in the days leading up to June 3 to anticipate market-moving surprises.
