This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 is higher than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 is lower than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If HSI does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Hang Seng Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". The market resolves at Jun 2, 2026, following the official close of the Hong Kong stock exchange on June 2. Resolution hinges on whether the Hang Seng Index closes higher or lower than its previous trading day's close. This straightforward directional comparison eliminates ambiguity around specific price levels or percentage moves. Traders should monitor HSI trading activity throughout the day on June 2, as late-session volatility or surprise announcements can shift the final outcome in either direction.
Key catalysts for HSI direction include Chinese economic data releases, monetary policy signals from the People's Bank of China, and earnings announcements from major Hang Seng constituents like tech giants and financials. U.S. Federal Reserve commentary and global risk sentiment also influence Hong Kong equities, particularly given capital flows and currency dynamics. Geopolitical developments affecting U.S.-China relations, semiconductor supply chains, and regional stability can trigger sharp moves. Additionally, any surprise corporate actions, dividend announcements, or sector-specific news from top HSI components may shift trader positioning ahead of June 2 close.
