This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Thursday, June 11, 2026 is higher than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Thursday, June 11, 2026 is lower than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If HSI does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Hang Seng Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money consensus from traders worldwide, often differing from traditional analyst forecasts. While equity strategists and research teams publish directional views based on macroeconomic models and technical analysis, prediction markets aggregate distributed information from participants with financial skin in the game. Analysts may focus on longer-term trends or fundamental valuations, whereas prediction markets price the specific binary outcome by June 11. Comparing the two reveals whether professional consensus and crowd wisdom align or diverge on near-term HSI direction, offering perspective on potential blind spots or contrarian opportunities.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this binary event is priced as two complementary outcome tokens: one for HSI closing higher on June 11, and one for it closing lower. Each token trades continuously, with its price representing the market's implied probability of that outcome occurring. Traders buy and sell these tokens based on their conviction, and the spread between bid and ask prices reflects liquidity and disagreement. As new information emerges—earnings reports, monetary policy signals, geopolitical developments—token prices adjust in real time. The sum of both outcome probabilities equals 100 percent, ensuring the market remains internally consistent throughout the trading period.
The market resolves at Jun 11, 2026. Resolution hinges on the official closing level of the Hang Seng Index on June 11, 2026. The outcome is determined by comparing the closing price to the opening price or a specified reference level, establishing whether the index finished up or down for that trading day. Once the market close data is confirmed and verified, the winning outcome is settled and traders receive payouts accordingly. The resolution process is automated and transparent, ensuring all participants see the same definitive price data used to determine the final result.
Multiple catalysts could shift HSI direction by June 11. Chinese economic data—industrial production, retail sales, and GDP updates—directly influence Hong Kong equities. Monetary policy announcements from the People's Bank of China or Hong Kong Monetary Authority may trigger sharp moves. U.S. Federal Reserve communications and global interest rate expectations affect capital flows into Asian markets. Geopolitical tensions, trade developments, and sector-specific news (tech regulation, property sector reforms) create volatility. Corporate earnings surprises and index constituent announcements also matter. Currency movements, particularly USD/CNY strength, influence HSI valuations. Traders on Polymarket continuously reprice these probabilities as new information surfaces, making the prediction market a dynamic reflection of evolving risk sentiment.
