This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 is higher than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 is lower than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If HSI does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Hang Seng Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money consensus from traders worldwide, while analyst forecasts typically rely on technical analysis, macroeconomic models, and equity research. Market odds often incorporate faster-moving sentiment around China's economic data, monetary policy signals, and geopolitical developments affecting Hong Kong equities. Analysts may lag in updating their views, whereas prediction markets reprice continuously. Comparing the two reveals whether professional forecasters and market participants agree on HSI direction, or whether one group is pricing in tail risks the other underweights.
The market resolves at Jun 10, 2026. Resolution is determined by the official closing level of the Hang Seng Index on that date. If the HSI closes higher than its opening level on June 10, the up outcome resolves true; if it closes lower, the down outcome resolves true. The exact settlement price is sourced from the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing official data. Once the market resolves, winning positions are credited and losing positions are settled according to the contract terms.
Key catalysts include China's economic data releases, central bank policy announcements, and U.S.–China trade developments. Earnings surprises from major Hong Kong-listed companies, currency movements in the Chinese yuan, and shifts in global risk sentiment also drive HSI direction. Geopolitical tensions, Fed policy signals, and commodity prices influence investor appetite for Hong Kong equities. Market participants watch for regulatory changes affecting tech stocks and financial services firms that dominate the index. Overnight U.S. market performance and Asian morning sentiment often set the tone for HSI trading on June 10.
