Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Monday, June 1, 2026 is higher than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Monday, June 1, 2026 is lower than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If HSI does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Hang Seng Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds on Polymarket represent aggregated trader expectations and often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts. While equity analysts typically issue directional calls based on fundamental research, prediction markets price in real-time sentiment from a diverse pool of participants with financial incentives to be accurate. For the Hang Seng on June 1, comparing Polymarket odds to consensus estimates from major investment banks and Hong Kong market strategists can reveal whether traders are more or less bullish than the analyst consensus. This gap often highlights where market participants see overlooked risks or opportunities.

The market resolves at Jun 1, 2026. Resolution is determined by the official closing price of the Hang Seng Index on June 1, 2026. The outcome is binary: if the index closes higher than its opening price on that date, the up outcome resolves to yes; if it closes lower, the down outcome resolves to yes. Only the official Hong Kong Stock Exchange closing data is used to settle the contract. Traders should monitor any announcements or market-moving events in the days leading up to resolution that could influence intraday volatility and the final closing level.

Key catalysts for the Hang Seng on June 1 include Chinese economic data releases, monetary policy signals from the People's Bank of China, U.S. Federal Reserve communications affecting risk appetite, and geopolitical developments impacting Hong Kong and mainland China relations. Corporate earnings announcements from major Hang Seng constituents, currency movements in the Chinese yuan, and global equity market sentiment also influence the index. Any surprise inflation or growth data, trade tensions, or regulatory changes affecting Hong Kong's financial sector could trigger sharp intraday moves. Traders should track these factors closely as June 1 approaches to adjust their market positions accordingly.
