Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the XAU/USDT price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than the price at the beginning of that range. It will resolve to "Down" if the XAU/USDT price at the end of the time range is lower than the price at the beginning of that range. If the two prices are exactly equal, the market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source for this market is Chainlink, specifically the XAU/USDT data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/xau-usdt-markpriceindex-datalink The resolution source uses the index price (field i) from Binance's USDS-Margined Futures Mark Price Stream for All Markets (!markPrice@arr), denominated in the quote currency. This market is based solely on the price reported by the Chainlink XAU/USDT data stream, not on other sources or futures markets. If Chainlink data is unavailable or otherwise unusable for resolution, the market will resolve based on a consensus of reliable sources. 2026-10-29T12:15:00Z

Frequently asked questions

On Predict, the dashboard for the gold price movement market tracks the current implied probabilities of gold increasing or decreasing in value between 8:15AM and 8:30AM ET on October 29th. You’ll find the current odds, a price history chart showing how probabilities have shifted over time, and the 24-hour trading volume, currently at $867. Total volume for this market is $861. This allows traders to quickly assess market sentiment and identify potential trading opportunities related to short-term gold price fluctuations.

Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While many financial analysts provide long-term gold price predictions, this market focuses on a very specific, short-term window. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, as analysts may consider broader economic factors while this market reflects real-time trader sentiment about the immediate future. This difference can be valuable for understanding market expectations and identifying potential mispricings, but it’s important to remember that neither source is inherently more accurate.

On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether gold will be up or down during the specified time frame. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, creating an implied probability for each outcome. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe gold will rise, the higher the price of the 'up' contract, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to aggregate information from a diverse group of participants, potentially offering a more accurate forecast than individual opinions.

This market resolves around Oct 29, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the final price of gold between 8:15AM and 8:30AM ET on October 29th will be compared to the opening price at 8:15AM ET to determine whether the price moved up or down. The market will settle based on this comparison, reflecting the direction of the price movement during that brief period. Traders holding contracts on the correct outcome will receive a payout.

Several factors could significantly influence this market before resolution. Unexpected economic data releases, such as inflation figures or employment numbers, often impact gold prices. Geopolitical events, like shifts in international tensions or major political announcements, can also drive investor sentiment towards gold as a safe-haven asset. Even surprising statements from central bank officials regarding monetary policy could trigger price movements. Monitoring these events and their potential impact on market sentiment is crucial for understanding how this market might evolve leading up to Oct 29, 2026.
