Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the XAU/USDT price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than the price at the beginning of that range. It will resolve to "Down" if the XAU/USDT price at the end of the time range is lower than the price at the beginning of that range. If the two prices are exactly equal, the market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source for this market is Chainlink, specifically the XAU/USDT data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/xau-usdt-markpriceindex-datalink?timeframe=1d&chart=candlestick To verify the final price, use the close price of the 5m candlestick just before the market's end time. For example, for a market running from 1:00 to 1:15 PM ET, use the close price of the 1:10 PM candlestick as the final price. The resolution source uses the index price (field i) from Binance's USDS-Margined Futures Mark Price Stream for All Markets (!markPrice@arr), denominated in the quote currency. This market is based solely on the price reported by the Chainlink XAU/USDT data stream, not on other sources or futures markets. If Chainlink data is unavailable or otherwise unusable for resolution, the market will resolve based on a consensus of reliable sources. 2026-10-27T15:15:00Z

Frequently asked questions

On Predict, the dashboard for the gold price movement market tracks the current odds of gold increasing or decreasing in price within the specified timeframe. You’ll find a visual representation of the probabilities assigned by traders, along with the total volume traded—currently $1,910—and the 24-hour volume, which stands at $1,890. The dashboard also displays a price history chart reflecting how the market has priced the probability of each outcome over time, giving you insight into trader sentiment and potential shifts in expectation.

Currently, it's important to note that prediction market odds often reflect a different kind of information than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts rely on economic models and fundamental analysis, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, representing what traders believe will happen based on all available information—including factors analysts might overlook. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, especially in the short term, as market participants react quickly to news and events. Comparing this market to broader analyst expectations provides a valuable perspective on collective belief.

On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the gold price will move up or down. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price reflects the collective judgment of traders, and changes rapidly as new information becomes available or sentiment shifts. The more traders believe gold will rise, the higher the price of the 'up' contracts will climb, and vice versa.

This market resolves around Oct 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the change in the spot price of gold between 11:15 AM ET and 11:30 AM ET on October 27th. If the price increases during that period, the 'up' outcome will be considered correct; if it decreases, the 'down' outcome will be correct. Any price movement, even a very small one, will determine the result of this market.

Several factors could significantly impact this market before resolution. Unexpected economic data releases, such as inflation figures or employment numbers, often influence gold prices. Geopolitical events, including political instability or major international developments, can also drive demand for gold as a safe-haven asset. Additionally, statements from central bank officials regarding monetary policy, or any surprise announcements regarding gold reserves held by major countries, could trigger substantial price movements and, consequently, shifts in this market. Keep an eye on these developments as Oct 27, 2026 approaches.
