This set of markets tracks whether the GBPUSD exchange rate will exceed various thresholds at a specific future moment. Each market focuses on a different price level, allowing participants to assess the likelihood of the rate being above each specified value at the exact time and date indicated.
All markets resolve based on the GBPUSD exchange rate's opening candlestick value at 5:00 PM EDT on September 25, 2026, as published by Pyth. Each market has a unique threshold; if the rate at that time is above the respective threshold, the market resolves to Yes, otherwise to No. Data is rounded to four decimal places. If Pyth does not publish data at the exact time, the most recent available value is used. Post-expiration revisions to the exchange rate do not affect the resolution. This structure applies uniformly across all thresholds, ensuring consistent evaluation methodology for each market.
Currently, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may rely on economic models and geopolitical assessments, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, representing a broader range of information and potential outcomes. Discrepancies can arise due to differing assumptions, risk appetites, or access to unique data. It’s common to see this market price in probabilities that diverge from the average analyst expectation, especially when anticipating unexpected events or shifts in market sentiment. Examining these differences can offer valuable insights.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different potential GBPUSD price ranges. The price of each contract reflects the market's collective assessment of the probability of that price range occurring. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders adjust their bids and asks based on new information and their own expectations, creating a dynamic pricing mechanism. The more traders who believe a particular price range is likely, the higher the contract price will become, and vice versa. This creates a real-time reflection of market sentiment.
This market resolves around Sep 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the actual GBPUSD exchange rate at 5:00 PM EDT on September 25th is verifiable from credible public reporting. The market will settle to 100% probability for the contract corresponding to the price range that includes the actual exchange rate at the specified time. All other contracts will settle to 0%. The final price will be sourced from established financial data providers, ensuring an objective and transparent resolution process.
Several factors could significantly influence this market before Sep 25, 2026. Unexpected economic data releases from the United Kingdom or the United States, such as inflation reports, employment figures, or GDP growth, could trigger substantial price movements. Geopolitical events, including political instability or major policy announcements, could also impact the GBPUSD exchange rate. Furthermore, shifts in central bank policy, particularly regarding interest rates, are likely to be closely watched by traders and could lead to significant changes in the probabilities reflected in this market. Any surprise announcements or unforeseen circumstances could drive volatility.
