Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for FTSE 100 (UKX) on Friday, June 26, 2026 is higher than the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for UKX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for FTSE 100 (UKX) on Friday, June 26, 2026 is lower than the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for UKX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If UKX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by FTSE 100 Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the FTSE 100 daily direction market dashboard displays real-time odds for whether the UK's primary equity index will close higher or lower on June 26. The interface tracks current bid-ask spreads, historical price movements, and trading activity to help participants monitor sentiment shifts throughout the day. This dashboard gives traders a live window into how the market is pricing the index's directional outcome, updated continuously as new trades execute on the platform.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they reflect real-money incentives rather than consensus opinion. While equity analysts publish price targets and technical outlooks based on fundamental research, this market aggregates the collective judgment of traders betting actual capital on the index's direction. Comparing the two reveals whether professional forecasters and market participants align on near-term momentum, or whether traders are pricing in sentiment or catalysts that analysts have overlooked.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker (AMM) system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—Up or Down—has a price between 0 and 1 (or 0–100 cents), reflecting the probability implied by recent trades. As new orders flow in, the AMM adjusts prices to balance liquidity and risk, so the current odds always reflect the latest consensus among active traders on the platform.

This market resolves around Jun 26, 2026, once the trading day closes and the FTSE 100's final position is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by whether the index finishes above or below its opening level on that date. Resolution is automatic once the official closing price is confirmed, settling all winning and losing positions based on the index's actual directional movement.

Major UK economic data releases, central bank communications, and global market sentiment shifts can significantly influence this market before resolution. Overnight moves in US equity futures, European indices, and currency fluctuations often set the tone for London's open. Corporate earnings announcements, geopolitical developments, and changes in interest rate expectations also drive intraday volatility. Traders monitor these catalysts closely to adjust positions, making real-time news flow a key driver of price movement in this market.
