Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for FTSE 100 (UKX) on Monday, August 24, 2026 is higher than the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for UKX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for FTSE 100 (UKX) on Monday, August 24, 2026 is lower than the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for UKX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If UKX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by FTSE 100 Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard tracks real-time odds and price history for the FTSE 100 direction market, along with 24-hour volume of $79. It shows how traders on this single venue are positioning around the likelihood of the UK’s top equity index moving higher or lower by the close on August 24. The display updates continuously to reflect the latest betting activity and market sentiment on Polymarket alone.

Currently, this market shows a strong tilt toward the index finishing higher, though it’s valuable to compare that to analyst forecasts from major banks and research houses. Many professionals publish their own up-or-down outlooks ahead of key reporting dates and macroeconomic releases. Monitoring both the prediction market odds and traditional equity research can reveal whether traders are more or less bullish than institutional analysts.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, traders actively buy and sell contracts representing the two possible outcomes, driving the current implied probability. The platform’s pricing mechanism updates instantly with each new bet, reflecting aggregated user sentiment. Unlike some other venues, Polymarket does not apply external adjustments; the market price is a direct output of participant activity and order book depth.

This market resolves around Aug 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final settlement will depend on the official closing level of the FTSE 100 index on that day, compared against the pre-defined threshold used by the market creator. No further interpretation is needed beyond widely accepted public data sources.

Key economic indicators due before August 24 — such as UK GDP revisions, employment data, or inflation figures — could shift this market sharply. Additionally, major corporate earnings surprises within the index, geopolitical developments affecting UK investors, or sudden moves in currency markets may influence trader sentiment. Any major news that changes expectations for UK economic growth or corporate profitability can cause rapid re-pricing.
