Description

This market will resolve according to the cumulative influenza-associated hospitalization rate per 100,000 population for the United States, as reported for the specified week. If the recorded data falls exactly between two brackets, this market will resolve to the higher bracket. The resolution source for this market will be CDC FluView / FluSurv-NET (see: https://www.cdc.gov/fluview/index.html). If the FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate for the specified week is not released by 11:59 PM ET on the tenth calendar day following the date of the prior FluView weekly report release, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. Note: Only the CDC FluSurv-NET cumulative hospitalization rate per 100,000 population for the specified week will qualify, regardless of estimates, projections, state-level reports, or other influenza surveillance metrics published by the CDC or other sources.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds on Polymarket often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because markets aggregate real-time information from many traders with financial incentives to be accurate. While health agencies and epidemiologists publish seasonal flu projections based on historical patterns and current surveillance data, prediction markets incorporate trader expectations about policy changes, vaccine effectiveness, and emerging variants. Comparing Polymarket odds to CDC or WHO seasonal forecasts can reveal where the market sees upside or downside risk relative to official guidance, though both sources aim to inform public health planning.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the Flu Hospitalization Rate Week 22, 2026 market is priced through an automated market maker or order-book mechanism, where each outcome carries a probability reflecting trader demand. Participants buy shares in outcomes they believe will occur, and the price of each share reflects the collective market estimate of that outcome's likelihood. As new flu surveillance reports, hospitalization data, or seasonal trends emerge, traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. The final price at market close on Jun 12, 2026 will determine which outcome resolves as correct.

The Flu Hospitalization Rate Week 22, 2026 market resolves on Jun 12, 2026. Resolution is determined by official hospitalization data reported for epidemiological week 22 of 2026, typically sourced from public health authorities that track weekly flu-related hospital admissions. The specific threshold or range that defines each outcome will be established in the market's terms at launch. Once the data is published and verified, the outcome matching the actual hospitalization rate is declared correct, and traders' positions settle accordingly.

Several factors could shift odds for this market. New flu variants or unexpected surges in respiratory illness could increase hospitalization expectations, while successful vaccine campaigns or public health interventions might lower them. Seasonal timing is critical—week 22 falls in late May and early June, typically outside peak flu season in the Northern Hemisphere, which may suppress hospitalization rates. Policy changes, healthcare capacity constraints, or shifts in testing and reporting practices could also influence outcomes. Real-time CDC surveillance reports and international flu activity updates will be closely watched by traders adjusting positions ahead of resolution.
