This market will resolve to "Up" if the Ethereum price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than or equal to the price at the beginning of that range. Otherwise, it will resolve to "Down". The resolution source for this market is information from Chainlink, specifically the ETH/USD data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/eth-usd. Please note that this market is about the price according to Chainlink data stream ETH/USD, not according to other sources or spot markets.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations about Ethereum's directional movement during that specific four-hour window. These odds often diverge from spot price forecasts because prediction markets price in event-specific volatility and time-bound constraints, whereas spot price expectations typically reflect longer-term sentiment. Traders betting on this market are making a discrete up-or-down call within a narrow timeframe, which can differ meaningfully from what technical analysts or on-chain metrics suggest for broader price trends.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the Ethereum Up or Down - May 31, 4:00PM-8:00PM ET market uses an automated market maker model where prices are determined by the ratio of shares held in each outcome pool. Traders buy shares of either the up or down outcome, and the price adjusts based on supply and demand. The current implied probability reflects the balance between bullish and bearish positions. As traders place orders, prices shift to equilibrate the market, with higher trading volume typically resulting in tighter bid-ask spreads and more efficient price discovery.
The Ethereum Up or Down - May 31, 4:00PM-8:00PM ET market resolves on Jun 1, 2026. Resolution occurs after the four-hour trading window closes at 8:00 PM ET on May 31st. The outcome is determined by comparing Ethereum's price at the start of the window (4:00 PM ET) to its price at the end (8:00 PM ET). Whichever direction the price moved—up or down—determines the winning outcome. Traders holding shares of the correct outcome receive their payout once the market settles.
Several catalysts could influence Ethereum's price during this four-hour window. Major on-chain developments, regulatory announcements, or macroeconomic data releases scheduled for that afternoon could trigger sharp moves. Bitcoin price action often correlates with Ethereum, so BTC volatility during 4:00–8:00 PM ET would be closely watched. Crypto derivatives liquidations, large exchange inflows or outflows, and sentiment shifts from social media or news could also drive directional momentum. Technical support and resistance levels near the opening price will likely influence whether traders expect upside or downside breakouts.
