This market will resolve to "Up" if the Ethereum price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than or equal to the price at the beginning of that range. Otherwise, it will resolve to "Down". The resolution source for this market is information from Chainlink, specifically the ETH/USD data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/eth-usd. Please note that this market is about the price according to Chainlink data stream ETH/USD, not according to other sources or spot markets.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect trader consensus on Ethereum's directional move during that specific four-hour window, which may differ from broader spot price forecasts or analyst sentiment. While spot markets price Ethereum continuously across all hours, this event isolates a discrete time window, creating a focused betting opportunity. Comparing prediction odds to analyst price targets or social media sentiment can reveal whether the market is pricing in elevated volatility, macro catalysts, or regulatory news expected during that afternoon session. Divergence between prediction odds and traditional analyst views often signals where informed traders see edge.
The market resolves after Jun 9, 2026, once the four-hour trading window on June 8 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM ET concludes. Resolution is determined by comparing Ethereum's price at the end of that window to its price at the start, establishing whether the net movement was upward or downward. The outcome is then verified and the market settles accordingly. Traders holding winning shares receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. This discrete time window creates a focused event with clear entry and exit points for participants betting on short-term Ethereum volatility.
Several catalysts could drive Ethereum's direction during that four-hour window. Macro events include Federal Reserve announcements, inflation data, or stock market opens that shift risk appetite. Crypto-specific triggers include major exchange outages, regulatory news from the SEC or international bodies, or significant whale transactions detected on-chain. Technical levels and support or resistance zones matter for short-term momentum. Bitcoin's movement often correlates strongly with Ethereum, so BTC volatility during that window could dominate. Additionally, options expiry, futures liquidation cascades, or large derivative positions unwinding can amplify price swings. Monitoring news feeds and on-chain metrics in the hours before 4:00PM ET is essential for traders.
