This market will resolve to "Up" if the close price is greater than or equal to the open price for the ETH/USDT 1 hour candle that begins on the time and date specified in the title. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "Down". The resolution source for this market is information from Binance, specifically the ETH/USDT pair (https://www.binance.com/en/trade/ETH_USDT). The close « C » and open « O » displayed at the top of the graph for the relevant "1H" candle will be used once the data for that candle is finalized. Please note that this market is about the price according to Binance ETH/USDT, not according to other exchanges or trading pairs.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect traders' collective forecast of Ethereum's price direction by June 4, 11AM ET, often diverging from current spot prices or analyst consensus. While spot markets react to immediate supply and demand, prediction markets embed longer-term directional bets with defined resolution criteria. Comparing Polymarket odds to traditional analyst price targets or on-chain sentiment indicators can reveal whether traders expect a significant move or stability. Discrepancies between prediction odds and spot-market implied volatility may signal information asymmetry or differing risk appetites among market participants.
On Polymarket, the Ethereum Up or Down - June 4, 11AM ET contract is priced as a binary outcome with two opposing sides: one betting Ethereum moves up and the other betting it moves down. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome, with prices ranging from 0 to 1 (or 0% to 100%), reflecting the probability implied by order flow. Polymarket uses an automated market maker model, so prices adjust continuously as new trades execute. The spread between bid and ask prices reflects liquidity and uncertainty; tighter spreads indicate higher confidence or deeper order books.
Major catalysts for Ethereum price direction include regulatory announcements, macroeconomic data (inflation, interest rates), Bitcoin momentum, and Ethereum-specific developments such as network upgrades or staking changes. Large institutional flows, options expiry dates, and derivative liquidations can trigger sharp moves. Sentiment shifts on social media and crypto news outlets often precede price swings. Technical levels and support/resistance zones may attract algorithmic trading. Geopolitical events and traditional market volatility can also ripple into crypto. Traders should monitor on-chain metrics, whale wallet activity, and futures funding rates for early signals of directional bias.
