Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Dow Jones Industrial Average closing price for Dow Jones (DJIA) on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 is higher than the official Dow Jones Industrial Average closing price for DJIA on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Dow Jones Industrial Average closing price for Dow Jones (DJIA) on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 is lower than the official Dow Jones Industrial Average closing price for DJIA on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If DJIA does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Dow Jones Industrial Average for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Dow Jones daily direction market dashboard tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for whether the DJIA will close higher or lower on June 30. The interface displays current implied probabilities for each outcome, allowing traders to monitor shifts in market sentiment throughout the trading day. You can view order-book depth, recent trade volume, and price history to understand how conviction around the index's direction has evolved. This snapshot helps traders assess consensus positioning ahead of the close and identify potential entry or exit opportunities in the market.

Prediction market odds reflect real-money consensus from active traders and often diverge meaningfully from traditional analyst sentiment. While sell-side equity strategists typically publish longer-term outlooks, this market distills near-term directional conviction into a single probability. Traders incorporate breaking news, economic data, and intraday momentum faster than formal research updates, making odds a dynamic alternative to static forecasts. Comparing the implied probability here to consensus price targets or technical analyst calls reveals whether the crowd is more or less bullish than the professional consensus on the day's close.

On Polymarket, traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome—Up or Down—and the market price of each share reflects the collective probability assigned by the order book. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Shares are fractional and priced between 0 and 1 cent, with the sum of both outcomes always equaling 1 cent. As new trades execute, prices adjust in real time based on supply and demand. Higher trading volume typically narrows the spread between bid and ask, making it cheaper to enter or exit a position. The current odds displayed represent the midpoint or last-traded price, giving you an instant read on market conviction.

This market resolves around Jun 30, 2026, once the trading day closes and the final DJIA level is published. The outcome is determined by comparing the closing price on that date to the previous trading day's close. If the index finishes higher, the Up outcome wins; if it finishes lower, the Down outcome wins. Resolution is verified against credible public sources reporting the official index close. Traders should monitor market hours carefully, as the outcome locks in at the end of the standard U.S. equity trading session.

Major economic data releases—particularly jobs reports, inflation figures, and Fed commentary—can trigger sharp directional moves in this market. Corporate earnings surprises, geopolitical developments, and shifts in interest-rate expectations also influence large-cap sentiment. Intraday momentum and technical levels matter significantly in a single-day market; early strength or weakness often compounds as the day progresses. Breaking news on individual mega-cap holdings or sector rotations can shift the balance. Watch for pre-market futures action and opening-bell volatility, as these often set the tone and move odds before the close.
