This market will resolve to "Up" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Friday, June 26, 2026 is higher than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Friday, June 26, 2026 is lower than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If DAX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by DAX Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Prediction market odds and traditional analyst forecasts often diverge because they reflect different methodologies. Market odds aggregate real-time trader conviction and capital allocation, while analyst forecasts rely on fundamental models and historical analysis. This market allows you to compare crowd-sourced probability estimates against published research from financial institutions and equity strategists. When consensus among analysts shifts, prediction market prices typically adjust as traders incorporate new information, making the two approaches complementary signals for assessing DAX direction risk.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker mechanism where each outcome has a corresponding share price between 0 and 1. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The sum of both outcome prices always equals 1, so if the up outcome trades at 0.55, the down outcome trades at 0.45. Traders buy and sell shares to express their view, and the market price reflects the collective probability estimate. Higher trading volume typically narrows spreads and increases price accuracy, while lower liquidity can widen the gap between bid and ask prices.
This market resolves around Jun 26, 2026, once the DAX's closing level for that trading day is verifiable from credible public financial sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the closing price to the previous day's close: an up close triggers the up outcome, while a down close triggers the down outcome. Resolution typically occurs within hours of market close, once official data is confirmed and the platform processes the settlement. Traders holding winning shares receive their payout automatically.
Major economic data releases, central bank communications, and geopolitical developments can shift DAX direction expectations significantly. Key catalysts include eurozone inflation reports, ECB policy announcements, and earnings surprises from large DAX constituents. Market-wide risk sentiment, currency movements in the euro, and global equity trends also influence intraday momentum. Technical levels and options expiry dynamics may create additional volatility. Traders monitor these signals to adjust positions, causing odds to fluctuate as new information emerges and conviction changes across the market.
